Pink Floyd's "Echoes" is perhaps the most musically gifted composition of all time

That's the best way I can describe it. Gradually adding layers of instruments and increasing intensity throughout the song culminating to the ending climax.
Amazing piece and I only wish PF would have had another album or two similar to Meddle and Animals.

Can’t be. Posters on here have gone out of their way lately to trash Pink Floyd. Didn’t you get the memo they are overrated hacks?

Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts 1-5 is objectively a better piece of music and it isn't really close, the mixing on that record is unbelievable.

There isnt an objectively better piece of music in the world. Different tastes.
Shine On You 1-5 is great but I prefer the composition of Wish You Were Here the most.

PF is in my top 3 bands of all time. But I have a couple of friends that absolutely loath them. I don't understand it at all. How can you not listen to "Comfortably Numb" and just be in awe of that song? How can you not listen to "Wish You Were Here" and immediately fall in love with that song? How can you not listen to the entire Dark Side of the Moon album and not immediately recognize its brilliance?
I guess I'm just blinded by my fandom.

Most people have the attention spans of squirrels and cant comprehend a song over 5 minutes that builds on itself

No, not quite.
What I said was accurate. Doesnt apply to everyone but applies to most I'd venture.

Echoes is a great track. Some people love Pink Floyd, some don't. They're leagues better than their peers of that era IMO, but it's just an opinion.

Objectively?

Definitely better than any single Beatles song.

It’s so good Andrew Lloyd Webber stole it for Phantom of the Opera

I love Pink Floyd, but there are plenty of prog rock bands (Dream Theater, Tool, Symphony X, etc.) who have much more musically gifted compositions.
