The decision to move on from Allen was spearheaded by owner Gayle Benson, according to sources. Benson met with multiple players last week and traded emails with some to find out what has been going on with the team and how they felt about the head coach. Multiple players told her that the program was failing and that changes weren't just needed but urgent.

In recent weeks, Benson had grown frustrated with the direction of the team and started to consider the possibility of making a change. She saw how getting back healthy players wasn't leading to different results. Sunday's 23-22 loss to the Panthers was the final straw.

Look at Gayle.

Being an actual boss instead of just an interior designer.

Good for her.

Loomis next

Should be a package firing.

These contracts are playing a part in the Saints’ struggles.

Good for Gayle. I'm sure Tom is proud of her in this moment.

Also you had to email players to learn he’s ineffective and terrible? Can she see the games from her suite ?

Didn’t they actually get similar feedback at the end of last season?

Don’t stop there, Gayle. Now move Mickey to a different role.

Can one come to the conclusion that since she circumvented Loomis, he will be gone as well?

One can hope.

She couldn’t identify the issues without asking the players

Don’t drink the kool aid, this is the problem.

Of course the players are going to throw Allen under the bus. She needs to own this decision and not use the players as pawns in the firing

Wouldn't you want feedback and input from those who interact with him in the day-to-day football activities?
