Waited a while to dive into this but so far, I'm liking it. Animated futuristic series that's not quite on par with something like Arcane but still pretty good. Just a couple of eps in and already there's decent action, Gundam on Gundam violence and likeable characters. Albeit they're a bit on the cornball, 2-dimensional side.
I walk into this having exactly zero knowledge of the Gundam franchise. Other than they're big mech-warrior type units with an assortment of armor, weapons and cool blades. On an industrial scale.
Any true weebs out there seen this yet and want to add their 2 cents?
Oh, sorry. Almost forgot.

Gundam Wing was goat Gundam. I still rewatch that series every two or three years along with Endless Waltz.

Agreed, and my favorite anime growing up. I also really enjoyed The 9th MS Team. Shockingly grounded and human story for a show about giant robot fights. It could easily have been a show about a unit in Vietnam. Just an incredible piece of storytelling.

Haven't checked this out yet but have been eyeing it. Maybe after football season

I tried this, but it's like watching cheap video game cut scenes. I had to stop after two episodes because it just looked weird.

Similar to my issues, regarding the quality of animation. Sub to Arcane, but the story carries it. Again, not 10/10 stars, but I’m liking it.
Downside is only 6 eps. Blink & you’re done with the series.

Loved Gundam Wing. When I was working at Blockbuster, I would watch it on Toonami every night on the DirecTV preview TV we weren't supposed to have access to.
I really do not like CGI anime. Japan really needs to stick with cel animation.

The more I watch, the more all I see his video game cut scenes.
It’s like they strung a bunch of them together and then made a short series.

I’ve never watched anything to do with Gundam. I watched this series in one go a few nights ago. I almost quit immediately because it’s clearly just made with likely Unreal Engine. But the story was alright enough to stick it out. I play enough video games and enjoy a good cut scene, so whatever. I liked it.

Go watch Gundam Wing and see the real peak of what the series can be. GW is far more a tale of geopolitics and freedom vs imperialism than giant robots fighting.

Don't get me wrong. Peak HALO era cut scenes and story lines were far superior than what we've gotten lately on TV. I'm glad for the mid level Gundam content.

And the idiocy of total pacifism

I just started a rewatch of this, and it is as amazing as I remembered.

Finished the series. Short as it was. Really good War story stuff, but I have to admit I wasn’t crazy about the very end.
Not familiar with the backstory enough to know where *Zeon even is. This series didn’t get into that.
This would be like American revolutionaries invading England, so that America could be free. Not sure I get the whole picture.
*Well frick me and then some. This franchise is massive & clearly long running. Wow.
Brief research into all of this reminds me a little bit about The Expanse. A whole mess of space stations and asteroids, serving as human colonies within our own solar system.
And Zeon isn’t a place (or planet) but the name of a colony? Named after a leader… thus The Principality of Zeon…
