I know the narrative is to trade him and get something in return, but I am not sure what you get. There is always a unknown of what you get compared to what you know you have. My opinion is:

Ingram and Zion should rarely be on the court at the same time. Ingram and CJ or Zion and CJ are ok.

Starting 5 should be:
PG: Murray (i know hes hurt)
SG: CJ
PF: Zion
SF: Herb
C: Theis (until Missi matures into a starter)

With Murray hurt:

PG: CJ
SG: Hawk
PF: Zion
SF: Herb
C Theis

With Zion so injury prone, this leaves Ingram coming off the bench and fresh for the inevitable Zion injury. Trey comes back you have another bench weapon.

This may be the 2K GM in me, but it makes the most sense to me.

It makes zero sense.

He starts, or he isn't on the team. There is no other reasonable option.

This is the only rational part of your post. Ingrams been our best player to start the year. No way he's ever getting benched on this team.

Totally agree...especially considering THAT particular 6th man...might cost us somewhere in the neighborhood of $180-$200M for the next 4 years. I'm guessing we can find better ways to spend that money over the next few years.

Listing PF before SF in your breakdown is annoying me much more than it should

I'm just glad that others are starting to acknowledge that Zion may not be the answer we hoped he was.

I get the money portion, but the Pels have already shown they don't intend to pay him that type of money. While he's on the team, before inevitably being traded or signing an extension, having come off the bench is not that crazy of an idea to me.

2016 Rookie season with the lakers he came off the bench for 39 of their games averaging 9PTS, 4 REB, and 3.5 assists. He averaged 29 minutes a game. That's close to starter minutes anyway.

He has averaged 32-34 minutes a game as a starter with the Pelicans. You would be maximizing the personnel you have with CJ, Zion, and Ingram on the team. I think at this point, CJ has to start and Zion is the face of the franchise whether we like it or not, so Ingram is the odd man out to come off the bench.

I think we should trade Zion and picks for Sengun

Sengun got benched the other night due to a tough outing against Wemby.

He probably is more available than he was this offseason.

Keep Ingram. Get a Center that still has a chance to be great. Cash in on Zion not being injured right now.

Is pairing Zion with picks for a good-not-great player really "cashing in" at this point?

Depends on who it is. If it’s a 22 year old Center that’s Jokic like and has a floor of Sabonis, then yes it’s cashing in on a deteriorating asset like Zion. I don’t think Sengun fits on a Zion team, but he probably fits pretty damn well on this squad without him.

If we trade Zion for someone like Keegan Murray or Tyler Herro, then no. I’d rather Z at that point.

I hear what you are saying here. But I really think that should be Hawks job currently as the 6man.

With a healthy roster both CJ and BI should come off the bench.
