I have heard lots of people say that their doctors refuse to test it (probably because it's expensive and insurance companies won't pay).

Anyway, I went and got mine tested out of pocket and my level was at 6 ng/mL. This is considered "severely low" according to reference ranges. Anything under 20 is "low" and anything under 12 is "severe". 30-50 is considered optimal by the standard guidelines.

I just don't get out in the sun much anymore (too hot) and I suspect many people have low levels and don't realize it. I have yet to talk to my doc about it, but plan to check-in soon. I will probably be put on some "mega dosing" regimen.

Anyone ever done that? Or taken D3 at all?

I would imagine most people are deficient in vitamin D nowadays.

I see you're drinking 1%. Is that 'cause you think you're fat? 'Cause you're not. You could be drinking whole if you wanted to.

My wife is deficient in vitamin D. She gets pissed when she talks about it and i tell her that it coincides with her weight gain.

Mine was 61 a couple weeks ago. But that depends on the lab and range they use.
Doc said just inside normal range. And then sent me a link to order a supplement they sell????

I was at 7 ng/mL when I first got tested. I started taking 10,000 iu daily. If you supplement and supplement heavy it’s advisable that you get it checked regularly. Having too high of a level can create its own problems.

Not sure how much it costs, my doctor started running it and a few other test beyond a basic metabolic panel on my annual checkup due to a medical issue revolving around high blood calcium levels.

Anyone ever done that? Or taken D3 at all?

I started taking D3 during the Covid fiasco.I hadn’t had a primay care Dr.my whole adult life.( I went to a surgeon in 2010 for diverticulitis and had surgery for that). At 71 I was forced to because of my Medicare Advantage plan.
A nurse I go to church with told me her boss didn’t push the vax.He only recommended it for people with co morbities, otherwise if people asked for it he would give it.
What sold me on him was she told me he had a huge stash of ivermectin, pts. that got Covid he would give them a round of it from his stash- no charge but would swear them to secrecy so as not to get in trouble with the medical mafia.
Naturally I went to him as I felt he was a real Dr.
I had been taking Vit D3 on my own but he checked my level and it was low.I upped my dose, last checkup it was 50 and he was satisfied.

Do a Google search.Vit D3 has a myriad of benefits.Besides bone health it has benefits, for the immune system and mental health.Should take K2 with it.
Virtually everyone I’ve talked that had their levels checked were low.Blacks are apt to be deficient due to their pigmentation, probably the reason they got hit hard by Covid.
