So there is supposedly going to be a Dem meltdown because Trump said Robert E. Lee was a sought after and skilled person?

Isn't this universally agreed with by Civil War experts?

Oh wait...Trump said it. It must mean the end of democracy or some shite.

Yea I mean he was the preferred candidate for the other job, but they won’t let that get in their way.

Pivoting from Hitler to Robert E Lee in 4 days is an epic troll. Trump should mention the "late, great Charles A. Lindbergh" and "the beautiful America First movement" in his speech at MSG this weekend

Robert E Lee was one of the finest men this nation has ever known. A true disgrace what the left has done to his legacy

Lincoln agreed with Trump.

quote:

Abraham Lincoln wanted Robert E. Lee to fight for the North, offering him a high command position in the Union army when the Civil War began, but Lee declined and chose to fight for the Confederacy due to his loyalty to his home state of Virginia, which had seceded from the Union.

Lincoln wanted Lee to head the Union Army and he would have but his home state, Virginia seceded. So, yes Lee was a good General as was Stonewall Jackson. Their tactics are studied by military experts around the world.

I recall a documentary about the 1st Gulf War when an Abrams crew accepted some Iraqi's armored soldiers surrender.

On the inner wall of the Abrams, the crew had a photo of Irwin Rommel.

The Iraqi commander asked why an American tank crew would have a picture of their former enemy Rommel on their tank.

The crew's response? "If you would have read his book, you would not be a prisoner of war". .

Why should anyone be scorned for admiring RE Lee? He loved America and just had a differing view of the Constitution. After defeat, he was still an American who loved his country and worked for its healing.

Robert E Lee served 32 years in the United States Army. Distinguished service in the Mexican-American War.

He couldnt fight against his home state and Virginians. Back then your home state meant more the nationwide unity. Probably because most citizens never traveled out of their home state.

Yes, he was so skilled that even Abraham Lincoln wanted him to command the Union Army.

If you ever get the chance to go to Lexington, Virginia, you should visit VMI and Washington and Lee. It is truly inspirational.

Capitol building in Richmond Virginia. There are busts around the chambers of famous virginians, several presidents.

In the center was the only statue, of Robert E. Lee, where he accepted the command of the army of northern Virginia.

Probably gone now, what a shame.
