Tell me my little girl is gonna be sweet forever

Just got home from an event, and I look in the back seat and see my little girl (4) fake sleeping. Eye lids fluttering but she’s trying hard to be asleep. Her little mind done figured out if she’s sleeping, we’ll lay her down and she can skip bath time. Wife wants her to wake up, but I ain’t having it. I scoop her up and bring her to her bed and get her changed and tucked in. Right as I go to leave she whispers “daddy I love you”.
Tell me they stay like this forever. I’ve never been the sappy one, and I don’t cry or make a big deal when I see old pictures. Life moves on ya know, but I don’t think I want her to grow up anymore. I think 4 years old is a good age.
I’ll be good in the morning, but damn I got in my feelings tonight.

I have a three year old daughter and find myself taking her side against my wife more than I did with my two older boys. It’s a fun age and I think she knows she can manipulate me. I’m here for it.

Be patient. My oldest daughter turns 20 in a few days. She’s not as sweet as she was at 4 or 5 but she’s much sweeter than when she was 16.

When my daughter was around 5 or 6 I was explaining to her that one day she would grow up and be a mommy herself. She looked at me and asked “but you’ll always be my daddy, right?” It still tears me up to this day.

She’s 17 now, still mean as a snake and a little witch but she’s getting better
It’s been a rough 4-5 years with that little girl.
I finally just couldn’t do anything but laugh and wait for the phase to pass.

Tonight my 4yo wanted to play library after I put my 2yo to bed. She lined up her books all over her room, said they're open for "2 or 5 or 3 more minutes", and let me choose 5 books. Then this little monster said "you'll need your credit card before you can read them"
