So what do we do with Perkins now.....

I've been super critical of our defense all year, because those first few games were NOT an improvement over last year, considering the 90 million dollars in coaching changes we made. We were 90th in total defense after playing USC, USCe, Nicholls, and UCLA, not exactly powerhouse offenses.
But then we have an injury. And we've improved defensively MIGHTLY since that injury. Up to 67th now after playing USA, Ole Miss, and Arkansas. These are the 2nd, 22nd and 28th ranked offenses. And I think we can tell that Weeks and Penn have both thrived on Perkins not being involved.
So, the question is IF Perkins returns, what exactly is his role? Do we force him to safety and hope he learns the role that seems possibly like a better fit? Do we keep him at LB, and hope he learns that position as well? Or did that one TD last year tell you to give him a shot at RB? (This is a joke, maybe?) I know a few people are going to say OLB, but he still hasn't developed a pass rush besides coming untouched. It's a weird spot to be in, and one that almost forces him to the draft this year even though he may not be combine ready.

I think you have to put him at the star position, that LB/S hybrid that Major Burns is playing right now. He'll have to work on some coverage skills, but that puts him in a position to blitz from the edge and provide run support on the outside. I don't see anybody beating him to the corner.
Burns is a senior this year. So, he won't be around next year (I don't think). Then you have Perkins there for a year. Then Toviano takes over.

Wish him luck in the NFL

It’s either try to put some beef on him and hope the light turns on as a linebacker, or have him cut some weight and become a safety.

He needs to come back.
He needs a big money year to get him back in the first round.

I really think he is a little overrated.

This seems moot, he’s not coming back

We remember….we remember and we tell stories of his freshman year.

Money is irrelevant to the situation. The defense was most definitely improved from the minute we stepped on the field this season regardless of the investment. If the defense from the USC plays in the Ole Miss game last year we win and the Missouri game the following week isn't as close. We are also a lot more competitive in the Bama game.
I do agree with you that this years defense has gone from average to pretty damn solid over the course of the season and the turning point was the linebacker play since Perkins went down.
And if by chance he somehow makes it back, I would pray they play him as a 3rd down situational pass rusher and as a clear backup to Weeks.

Wait until after the season is over to even begin to ponder it.

Ton of respect for Perk remaining committed & coming to LSU. Providing he comes back hopefully his people/coaches put him in a position to be successful & elite. However the position/assignments he was responsible for this season weren't good for him or the team. Best of success to Perk!

He just needs to transfer to A&M. Come back to Texas.

Perkins is the most athletic player on the team you cannot teach speed you’re born with it i really don’t think the college game is for him the NFL is .

If after 2 years we still can’t make it work with Perkins, how the hell is he going to play in the NFL?

All he needs is one coach to fall in love with him. It’s going to shock some people here how high he goes. I bet he is a second round pick. He knee should be far enough along by spring that won’t be a concern.

at what position?

Have him spend a whole offseason playing star and getting his body ready for that.
