Why are NH and Maine liberal states?

Pretty rural & white would make me think they should be more conservative than they are. Why do these states go Dem more often than not?

They live in a white eutopia.

Ever been there? The women are husky so they can keep you warm at night. Imagine a Karen yelling non-stop when they don’t get their wish. That is both of those states

Minnesota confuses the hell out of me.

Exactly, they have never experienced feral democrats like we have.

The Grange, farmers unions. Damn near socialist.

They don’t really have to deal with the problems that terrible Democrat policies create

Collectivist mind set, migration from the big northeast cities.
Lots of liberal Massachusetts types have moved into NH and into southern Maine, near the coast.
On that topic, I hiked parts of the AT in Maine about six years. Gorgeous state, beautiful small towns. The rural parts of Maine are conservative as could be. Get down to the coast and near Portland and it's woke land.
Vermont is a completely another story, there's zero conservatism there, maybe someone could explain why.

Probably a lot of behind the scenes influence from neighboring states & democrat puppet masters.

NH isn’t. It’s an odd state.
No income tax.
Pretty loose gun laws.
Pretty sure no seatbelt law
Very low regulation

Diversity for thee but not for me

No minorities, no crime, they don’t understand what the rest of the country deals with.

The bigger question than those two is Vermont.
Vermont is the whitest state in the nation with one of the highest rates of gun ownership yet is damn near communist

Vermont has a lot old boomer hippies and libs.

The only minorities those people see are in movies

Lots of Massholes move to NH.

From the little time I've spent there, they're stuck in the 60's. They still think democrats represent the counter culture. They haven't caught up politically.
I bet if you polled a lot of them you'd find that they're classical liberals instead of woke liberals, and are more closely aligned with libertarians than they think.

NH was always conservative until Libs from Massachusetts moved up there.
