As a Yankee and Stros fan, I have to tip my cap. This guy has been consistent excellent. Gotta start talking about him as one of the greats.

Except in the playoffs the last two years. Glad to see he’s broken out of that slump. Gonna need him if the Dodgers are going to make a WS run

Mookie is absolutely a first ballot HOFer both by merit and the fact that there's only like 6 good Black American players in the league right now

Just going by WAR, he’s 71st all time among position players with a 69.6 career WAR. Guys like Tony Gwynn, Eddie Murray, Dave Winfield are behind him. He is already in clear HOF company.

A 75.4 career WAR moves him into the top 50 all time and the only players in the top 50 that aren’t in the HOF either are not yet eligible or are omitted for steroids/gambling.

Mookie is only 31. Seems likely he will end his career well into first ballot, no doubt territory.

Everyone is a Hall of Famer because the term means nothing today. When the guy with the most hits in a sport where the entire goal of the sport is to hit a ball is not in then it means nothing. Sure, let Mookie in. Why not. Let all of them in. Everyone knows who the real Hall of Famers are anyway so who cares.

Jeff Bagwell was right when he said baseball players never get any credit unless their baseball card is in black and white. Betts is every bit the player Roberto Clemente was in terms of being a great hitter who played phenomenal, otherworldly defense. Betts is an all-time great in every sense of the word.

He's been one for a couple of years.

People act like he's been around 10 weeks, instead of 11 years. He has an MVP- he has 3 seasons as runner up to MVP. and a 5th, 6th, and 8th place showing in other MVP races.. 8 All Star games, 6 Gold Gloves.

This isn't a watered down candidate. This is as mainstream as it gets.

And Sox ownership let him walk over money. I will never forgive them.

No, always been a Yankee fan. Long distance cousin to DiMaggio. I pull for Bregman, so therefore like the Stros.

Pretty weird stance to take, but okay....

Even putting aside whether you think he deserved to be banned from the HoF (I do). He's not even the best player not in the hall. That would be Barry Bonds.

But just comparing Rose to Mookie. Rose was a great player who compiled a ton of stats because he played until he was 45. Mookie's peak is already far superior. We will have to wait and see how his career numbers end up, because he is still on the back end of his prime years.

To say "the entire goal of the sport is to hit a ball" is really oversimplifying baseball.
