Why can’t both make the claim?

Both are the real Death Valley.

You can debate who claimed the name first, or which stadium is the more intimidating environment, but both have a claim to the nickname.

I think if you ask 10,000 non-LSU or Clemson college football fans what they think of when you say "College Football Death Valley", at least 9,500 would say LSU.

LSU's is clearly more famous. It's in every top stadium and top atmosphere list, often at #1. It has far more lore and history. It has the "night game" mystique.

Clemson saying they are are the real Death Valley is like Mobile saying they have the real Mardi Gras.

LSU claiming Death Valley is like the Bengals claiming Who Dey is original to Cincy.

That weird entrance they do at Clemson which involves Dabo trying to run a 4.4 down the hill and so many 11 am kickoffs docks Clemson points imo.

Clemson was the first but there is room for both. Both are great fan bases for their programs.

I'm not an LSU fan by any means. That said, there are two things I am willing to admit about LSU:

1. The tailgating is unparalleled;

and

2. Nothing comes close to a night game in Tiger Stadium.

True but one is clearly better

I don't think this is true at all. I would think it would more be a 65/35 split

I’ve been lobbying the state legislature to change the name of Tiger Stadium to Brian Dennehy Stadium but nobody around here has a freakin’ sense of huma.

Clemson technically has more claim, as they were the original. At the same time, Tiger Stadium is the better stadium with a better crowd atmosphere.
