Shawn Ryan blows it up regarding the government’s involvement in NC Hurricane Helene

Shawn interviews 2 member of Aerial Recovery (former special forces guys) on their experiences on the ground and in the air in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Their takes are about as close to actual “truth” as you’re going to get here at this point.


My takeaway from this:


Your media is lying to you, straight face, and without conscience or concern for civilian lives. They only care about the political picture that is painted for Kamala Harris. That’s it.

This is appalling, and it needs to go viral just how abysmal the federal and to a lesser degree perhaps state government’s reaction has been to date, and who’s really responsible for getting this stuff done.

That being said, government on every level have absolutely screwed these people and done nothing whatsoever but GET IN THE WAY of civilians, charities, and privately funded search and rescue on numberous occasions, and largely due to too many chiefs, not enough Indians, and ZERO command and control being established so there is just a ridiculous amount of ego, and confusion.

Best comment I am taking from this is that, and paraphrasing here, but “if you’re waiting on the government to come to your rescue, you’re going to bleed out. You need to take care of yourselves, and come up with your own command and control to look after your own.” It’s pretty much the Wild West. You’re on your own as far as all parties are concerned.

11:-05. The real rescue of the infant and old lady whilst taking credit for civilian responses and S&R operations, military assets at the ready but not being given orders.


32:00 C17 loaded with supplied for Kamala photo op, but neither bird nor the supplies were ever sent according to NC national guard squadron commander.

33:00. No Fly Zone over Asheville Airport for 4 hours while Joe Biden flew over area, which halted all rescue operations. They never landed, just halted rescue operations during prime afternoon daylight hours.


35:45. More NC and Regional military units either being denied or not given orders.

50:40. FEMA is basically MIA on the ground according to this team for the entire time they were in WNC. Just not present except for some security guys they ran into at the airport waiting for something to do it sounds like.


53:00. Needs are not money, which is basically useless to people in the hills, but they need fuel, food, warm winter clothing, and heavy equipment to rebuild infrastructure and so that they don’t starve to death.


1:00 Completely discombobulated cluster in Lake Lure, simply trying to reach hardest hit areas to access and try and bring in people and resources to address needs. Eventually had to just pull ground crews to go elsewhere.
