Social media: The idiot’s launch pad

In stumbling upon a video on IG, I was witness (briefly) to a person pontificating about the gov’t controlling the weather. You know about these creatures.
She gets more granular on various angles related to government mechanics and so forth (all categorically incorrect), and I bow out.
Social media has provided these mentally-challenged, imbeciles some sense that they know anything. It goes beyond government into nutrition, medicine, paleontology (dinosaur deniers), etc. And, the vast majority have jack shite for an education. They just know they know everything.
My fricking barber doesn’t believe in dinosaurs and explained to me the full web of conspiracy. SMH.

I haven’t found many conspiracies that ended up being false. Like most, I don’t do the research because you’ll get mock for what you find. Head in the sand is easier and more socially acceptable.
However, unlike you, I commend the people that are trying to spread awareness. Truth is 100% always stranger than fiction.

Not necessarily. I've actually found that Occam's razor applies way more often than it doesn't.
People like to believe that they are living in the center of intrigue and mystery. That these are exceptional times.

Really? You believe the secret nazi base in Antarctica and Lizard people are running the country?
The problem with the modern conspiracy theorists are they don't need any proof or they can take a tiny grain of something like a Google maps picture of Antarctica and built a whole theory around it that people will jump on and believe as if it's the true story. Not even just a possibility, they take it as gospel.

Well there are certainly those who are TRYING to manipulate the weather. Many patents have been applied for. How successful they have been so far, I don’t know.

There are no trustworthy sources. The governments attempt to fight free speech has created an independent market for news.
The "black market" news isnt any more false than the real news. Just varying degrees of bias.
