Offensively, Jordan Hawkins has Klay/Reggie/Rip like potential.

Bro has the potential to be the best catch and shoot player in the NBA for 8+ years. As far as spot up catch and shooting, I'm pretty sure he will definitely reach the top of the NBA % wise multiple years in his career. I gotta pay more attention to how he moves off the ball as far as weaving around defenders and screens to get to this spots, considering that's what made the 3 players I mentioned so great.

This team is too damn deep and I'm scared that the team moves Hawkins and he ends up being better than Trey. It's no way to get everybody minutes smh.

I don't see us trading Hawkins at the moment. If he plays well he may be the safest player of the group.

CJ- 30mil
Trey- 25mil
BI- 45mil

That's a 100mil between (3) players that we have to develop a plan for. We aren't keeping CJ to trade Hawk IMO. And I don't think a BI/ Trey trade would include Hawk.

The only way Hawk gets traded is if he actually plays bad enough to warrant it.

I think he has great potential, but we also have to accept that he could be Malik Beasley, who basically gets a minimum or short 1-year deals because he can only do one thing.

This.

I have never really understood the Hawk hype. He cant handle the ball, can't defend, and isn't physical. Dude is a bucket, though. I'm personally leaning more toward Beasley/Cam Thomas. Will gladly eat crow if I'm wrong.

Dude needs to add some weight to his frame and learn how to play defense at even a moderate clip. If he can do those things, he very well could be a starter in the NBA somewhere or at least main rotation player at the very least.

Edit: I think it'll play out in our favor to where Hawkins will be getting heavy minutes year 3, starter year 4 when CJ is gone (assuming we dont extend BI). Most of these young NBA guys (especially guards) start figuring it out in year 3 in my opinion.

I would trade Hawkins to upgrade the center/PF position. Hawkins is not going to pass Murray, Jones, or Murphy on the depth chart. So at best he is coming off the bench.

Unfortunately Hawkins will end up blowing up for some other team knowing the Pels history

Ideally Hawkins is the heir apparent to McCollum who is 33

Herb is so nice defensively and is money on the catch and shoot, but I think he's the odd man out (CJ also) if Hawkins can show the eventual Klay/Reggie abilities. The Klay/Reggie skills is more valuable than what Herb offers next to Zion. But Herb is also great at catching and shooting, he just doesn't run run around off the ball. I think that specific skill is just more valuable next to Zion.

Trading Hawks (3mil) salary isn't getting us much help at PF or Center.

It will have to be BI/ CJ. You have to pay/ keep Trey just because of his trade value regardless of how this plays out. Even if you give Trey 30mil he's an extremely tradable asset along with the potential on this team.

Nooo don't do this. Jones/Murphy can live next to Hawkins in the long run and are suited at the 3/4 spot anyways. CJ is getting old. If BI doesn't resign, we would go from having a talented group guards/wings to being bone dry in 2 years.

You have to keep in mind that Hawkins is coming into his 2nd year and we have team control through the 26-27 season. His trade value at the immediate moment isnt going to return a whole lot either.

He an ideal 6th man. And he's on a cost controlled contract. We finally have shooting and shooting variety and this fanbase wants to get rid of him already. We're trying to shoot 40 threes a game, it ain't going to happen without a Hawkins type.

Agreed. Trading Hawkins on a rookie contract for a role player big is a Dell Demps move

That's just a thing we say.

We're likely starting BI/Zion/Theis...we aren't sniffing 40 3s per game.

BI apparently gonna be flowing with the offense more shooting more 3s. Theis will be in corner behind 3pt line more than JV was as well. He'll also probably attempt 2ish a game.

Our rotational group will be chunking them up for sure. With that said, I agree I think we were around 32 threes attempted per game last year. Id say increase that by 5 to around 37 a game at least.

We would be at (39) 3's going off what's listed below. In ( ) is last years 3pt attempts. This is with DJ taking 3 less per game and Trey, Hawk, CJ, BI, Herb, Jose only taking an additional (3) shots per game combined..

DJ- 4 (7.1)
CJ- 9 (8.5)
Herb-4 (3.6)
Jose- 4 (3.7)
Hawk- 5 (4.4)
Trey- 8 (7.8)
BI- 5 (3.8)

Very realistic and only accounts for 7 players.

This entire offseason has been dedicated to increasing 3pt shots...

BI/ CJ averaged (22) 2pt shots per game the last 2 seasons.

Taking those 20+ 2pt shots and creating an extra 5-10 3pt shots has been the #1 goal.

That's exactly why we brought in Murray to facilitate.

Think of how many "wasted possessions" we have had between CJ/ BI clock management and isolation. If BI/ CJ shots 3's for half of that time then we would have double the 3's AND probably an extra 5+ shots from not running the shot clock down.

Until he learns defense and handles, he's more likely to become Marcus Thornton or Jordan Crawford.

Im guessing you didnt watch last game, but he did a lot of good things on the defensive end that flat out he didnt last year.

It's one game, but it's clear its something he has been addressing in the offseason.
