Modern surgical procedure called The Cleft Lift Procedure, also termed the pilonidal RAF procedure, for the rotation of tissue around the anus and advancement of tissue across the midline of the natal cleft. It is the best choice of treatment for patients with Pilonidal Disease requiring surgery and has the highest success rate compared to conventional surgery.
Anyone know of a surgeon around BR/NO area that performs this surgery for pilonidal cysts? I’m talking about the one Dr Bascom pioneered. Supposedly, many surgeons claim they can do the surgery but I am interested in the Bascom cleft-lift procedure specifically. There are many surgeons that are indeed trained in it but so said, it’s not taught in residency.

Pro tip- do not soak it in hot water for 30 minutes and try popping it. It will hurt, it will not pop. Don't tell yourself to quit being a pussy and squeeze harder. It still won't pop.

Go to Dr, get appointment for surgery, get it poked and drained.

It hurts like a bitch for a few seconds followed by relief equivalent to your first dry fart after shifting yourself for 2 days.

I used Dr. Wala in BR. That was a long time ago. He may be retired by now.

I think this is him:

My son has this issue. It’s a small cyst and has never been infected but he’s debating whether or not to get the surgery. Right now i think he’s just going to wait. It sounds like the surgery is just as terrible whether he gets it now or waits to see if the thing will blow up. Any experts feel free to weigh in.

Same. Surgery was over 20 years ago and never caused another problem.

My son's is a pilonidal sinus. He had surgery to close some of the holes. Closing all of them would have been very invasive. We had to do wound care for about 6 months for it to fully heal. After surgery, it abscessed once and landed him in the ER. It seems to be under control now with a scheduled regiment of Nair.
