What’s the realistic level of heat I get from my wife if I skip it?

There’s roughly 0% chance I’m sober and attending a wedding during a top matchup of LSU / Ole Miss.

Just tell her you got COVID and have to be isolated. Doctor’s orders.

This is why God invented streaming on your cell phone.

How do you know this? Kickoff isn't set yet.

It's really not hard these days to keep up with the game on your cell phone.

Also, I can virtually guarantee that if there is a time conflict it will be on a TV somewhere at the reception venue, and most of the men will be watching it, at least casually.

If the bride isn't a selfish bitch, she will even make sure of it (or maybe all my friends' wives are just super cool).

The days of "Don't plan your wedding during football season" are pretty obsolete at this point.

99% of the posters here don't go to games in person anyway.

I’d flip the script here. Bring a battery pack to ensure uninterrupted phone streaming and put down 12-19 beverages. This is on her.

Again, maybe my wife and all the women we know are just exceptionally cool, but I don't understand why you need to sneak/negotiate watching football at a wedding reception. It's expected at every fall wedding I've been to for the last 20 years (which is when my friends started getting married, so definitely every fall wedding I've stood in). They plan for it. When I worked at a popular wedding venue many years ago we had multiple games on the TVs by the "back bar." shite, half the women are usually watching, too.

If they want to be that selfish, its on them

You gotta tell us the family friend makeup. But everyone at the reception will know you’re a bitch. Jewish weddings have to be done by sundown on Friday, built in advantage for us.

Not sure when you got the invite, but you are an a-hole for not responding a week out. You’re not a part of the wedding party, nobody is going to miss you. It only has value if you’re trying to get laid.

Read between the lines, genius. His wife clearly already RSVP'd for the both of them.

The only proper answer to a wedding invitation on a Saturday during football season is -

“I’ll make it to your next wedding - as long as you don’t schedule it during football season again”

My guess is you don't get invited to many weddings anyway because you don't have many friends. Also, you either aren't married or your wife doesn't like you.
