That window will open in 2026. The Defense will be rebuilt and seasoned with high level players at all 3 levels. Davis and Peoples will have the line wrecking shop.

The Oline will have a quick rebuild next year but with a couple years of stacking recruits, I expect a better overall line in '26 than they have this year.

RB will be filthy.

Wr will be better than this year.

QB could be 2023 JD5 level great, but will at least be very good (LSU is QBU now).

There will be no SEC championships or late round playoff games until then. They may make it in this year but would be bounced early.
Until '26, the fans will have to be OK with 9-3 regular seasons.

I know the Rant doesn't have that kind of patience, but does the fanbase at large, because it's coming like a freight train.

Why not 2025? Especially if Nuss comes back. The defense should be much improved next year.

You have absolutely no fricking clue what this team will look like in 2026.

Close the thread.

I agree, but I still expect BK to field a competitive team next year too. I’m not letting him off the hook that easy.

The team has gotten better week after week, and we don't have much room for error, but we're not out of the playoffs yet. So as far as I'm concerned, we're championship level this season until we're not, even though we've yet to look like it, because alot of championship level teams have has struggles of their own.

If Kelly can't get us into the playoffs until 2026, I would think that his seat would be getting mighty warm by then.

In 2026 it’ll be 2028 and it’ll still be O’s fault,

It may be 26.
By that time, Hilton will return to the lineup.

Everyone needs to come to peace with the fact that the initial defensive hires set the program back 2 years. At that point, LSU should be set up for a decade of elite level teams.

Inexperienced Oline.

Defense may be good, but not great until '26

The problem with that theory is that it assumes that we’ll hold onto our defensive staff. If they shine like we think they will, they’ll be getting offers. Hopefully, Kelly can retain them.

Then they had a revolving door at DL coach and no coach last year. Then House failed spectacularly and the entire D staff had to be replaced.

The new staff is very, very good and it's showing on the field and in recruiting. The last 2 years were a huge setback, though and there is a talent gap that must be closed.

Making the playoffs and being "championship level" are not the same. They'll be a fringe playoff team this year and next, but most years only 4 -6 teams have a legit shot at a title. They'll be in that group beginning in '26. Maybe next year if Nuss comes back and they hit a HR in the portal in a couple positions.

Exactly. The only warranted criticism is the hiring of House which set the defense back 2 years but on the right path now. Yet just about everyone was excited about his hiring and he didn’t do that bad a job his first year. But some pro coaches don’t translate to college especially recruiting and he was one. They now have great coaches at every position and are starting to sign the 4-5 stars but will be another year before defense starts to become more dominant and get the safety play we need. It’s coming. But this yr 3 BS gotta go.

That's very lofty expectations for whoever follows Nuss. Because he'll be in the NFL next year.
