LSU's PA czar ruined a great moment last night

South Alabama brought their whole band and they had been killing it all night. Around the middle of the 3rd quarter, when the GBFTL took up a rendition of Lil Wayne's "Right Above It", USA's band responded by playing their own version of the song. For a moment, both bands were trying to outdo each other and it looked like we were well on our way to having a good ol' fashioned band battle.
When the GBFTL had finished, USA was still playing. But instead of getting to hear their full rebuttal, the stewards of the "Cathedral of College Football" proceeded to "enhance the fan experience" by immediately piping in more of that unbearable and obnoxious rap noise.
The rest of USA's piece was drowned out, and yet even more people streamed for the exits.
I know...CSB. But I grew up in TS and have maintained going to games (and staying until the end) into adulthood, and to me it has never felt like a less pleasant place to spend time than it does these days.

“These kids and their darn gyratin’ and hip hoppy music”
I’m sure the mass exodus was a direct response to fans not getting to hear the jaguar marching band.

Care about something else

I posted last night. The music was horrible.
I don't have enough money to get scotts attention but i'm sure somebody does.
It's gonna take somebody with some deep pockets to do some complaining.
It's a miserable experience. You can't just ignore it.

I was foolish to think that the subtle distinction between piped in music and the band's music would be discernable to the brain trust of this board

Could not agree more. The electronic noise that is piped in is absolutely excessive and the PA Announcer is way too loud. They need to turn the PA announcer down quite a bit. He also talks way too much. And atrocious experience at what should be something that the athletes and students put on for the fans.

Why do I suspect the money behind LSU athletics does not appreciate the piped in music? Personally I think they should try to chase all the money out of Tiger Stadium.

shite sucks. No soul. If they played Curtis Mayfield people would be dancing in the aisles.

You have to
Have big balls to post on here because anything you say is met with sharp hatred! I thought we were all tiger fans. We argue harder than dems vs republicans.

it appears that they are catering to just one clientele, and that is a huge mistake.

When posting on the Rant:
-know that everyone wants to downvote you
-avoid any words that will trigger simpletons
You had a solid post ruined by saying “rap noise”.
The live DJ is the worst addition to Tiger Stadium in the history of the school. A great moment for the bands was ruined. You made a good point, but that is not allowed here unless you chose your words perfectly. Piped in music should never blast while a college band is playing.

Agree with this. I hate the loud music, not just the crap rap but the rock too...It would be a much better fan experience to have less 10 second 100 db loops played and let the band have a bit more room as well as allowing the crowd to actually hear themselves.
Just seems trashy to me but maybe that's where the CEOs culture wants it so we will put up with it.

It he'd said loud rock or country music would it have been better?

Also I’m pretty sure they messed up the Acadian Ambulance CEO year of death. Not once, but twice. Very nice, LSU.

This should be a rule.

Agree. Way too much loud piped-in music. The band just sits there more often than they play. When they do try to play, the music starts blaring over the PA system again. Too many "special guests" trotted out on the field. The volleyball team from 1979, seriously? Having the PA announcer read Mr. Richard Zuschlag's entire obituary while his family was on the field was terrible. The bright red Coca Cola ads light up the lower bowl more than the awful light show does. Instead of having the ribbon boards say "Geaux Tigers" or something LSU-related during the light show, they display the MMR logo. I'm all for the "soldier salute" though.

The irony is the PA started playing the exact song the bands were playing. If he had simply said why start piping in msice there, OK. But he said

immediately piping in more of that unbearable and obnoxious rap noise.
Which makes it seem like his real agenda is he doesn't like that rap music rather than the piped-in music. FTR I noticed way more non rap than rap last night but that is in no way a scientific measurement

Same here which is why I only go to a couple games a year now. TV timeouts have killed the experience.
It's basically become a made for TV production which is a much better product on TV than in the stadium.
