this just occurred in the last few hours. i noticed in the other thread about 10-20% of the embeds that all worked a few hours ago are now blocked and unavailable even directly on yt. i don't see any news or release about it but people talking about it on reddit and other forums. apparently green day's entire catalogue is now blocked just as an example. it looks like bob dylan is blocked too.
This is the official audio youtube video of "Hurricane" by Dylan

Don't blame SESAC
Youtube uses music videos to sell advertising.
They have to pay for that.
If there's no money in it for the artist, why should they allow their music to be used?
If there's no money to be made, nobody will bother doing videos or gigs.
People will just play music on their back porch.

Hopefully they can work something out and compensate the artists with some of the ad money. They play music videos and have commercials in between. It worked for MTV right?

I have a playlist of like 300 of my favorite songs on YouTube and suddenly 25 are unavailable.

The frustrating thing is I can't tell which ones they are.

Yeah, I never get the kneejerk hate for artists wanting to get paid.

I had some playlists lvdh”live from Darryl’s house”. Seems like he deleted most of his old or “edgy” stuff and reposted some of the same videos. I have seen a lot of videos get blocked but pretty sure this was probably his personal decision. That CeeLo green FU was a great one amongst others.
