On this day in 1985, The Cult released
"Rain" - the second single from their second studio album "Love". One of my favorite songs from my favorite Cult Album
The Cult always brings back great memories for me of a certain someone. (Lot of music does)
“I Love the Rain”
Might be a rainy afternoon

Never a big fan but they were always in the rotation at nightclubs in the mid 80s

Who played bass?
That’s a good trivia question IMO
Loved The Cult.

Love was an album that was indescribable in terms of sound. Was it Goth or hard rock? They were really different as compared to a lot of stuff coming over from the UK. Electric though was a big change because any pretense of Goth was stripped away and they really unleashed Billy Duffy on the world

The Cult is vastly underrated

And a few years later we got Sonic Temple. Guitar work on Fire Woman is so good.

Top 5 band for me, and was number 1 for the late 80s-early 90s.

They are it for me. A great representation of evolution through the 80s, 90s and on. They have stayed true to themselves and influenced others along the way. Show me a band that started at the same time that is still putting out original new music and albums. Longevity while staying true is hard to find.

If haven't heard the extended version of Rain, you're in for a hell of a treat!

Reminds me of my Xanthus days and my goth girlfriend at the time. Shout out to Suzanne wherever you are now.

Jaimie Stewart except during the Electric Tour. He played rhythm guitar and and Kid Chaos played bass. He played from The Death Cult until 1991-ish. After Sonic Temple Tour, Stewart left the band.
On Ceremony they recorded with a guy named Charlie Drayton. I can't remember who toured with them but then Sisters of Mercy & Mission UK Craig Adams bassist played on the self-titled album.
Then around 1998-ish Martyn LeNoble, yes that Marty Lenoble of Pornos for Pyros and Christina Applegate's husband joined and toured with them for about 4 years before he replaced Erik Avery of Jane's Addiction.
Then they went to Chris Wyse because he's a good session bass player that Bob Rock knew well. He contributed for an album or so and touring.
***Currently, I have no idea.
