Why not Patrick Wright? I thought he would have been perfect for Dan Borne's temporary replacement. LSU has a great tradition of deep voice announcers and Patrick Wright has one of those type voices.

Not sure who the guy is presently but it took some getting used to as he has some pitchiness. He made one glaring mistake on the first drive call a first down when it was obvious it was way short. He apologized and was pretty clean call the rest of the way except for his more high tone voice.

it's the same guy that does the baseball games

As far as Patrick Wright, he's been at LSU for a long time and could retire if he wanted to as well with his years of service.

Never thought I would hear someone say Bill Franques has a high pitched voice.

He works on the radio broadcast for football, so he wouldn't be available for PA.

Bill does fine with it. It is crazy to think that the "voices" of Tiger Stadium and radio voice of LSU football have been so few over the course of many many years.

From Google, this is what I have come up with:

Public address voice: 2 in the last 68 years.

Sid Crocker 1956-ish-1985
Dan Borne' 1986-now

Tiger Band announcer: 2 in the last 58 years

Jim Mackey 1966-1998
Wright 1999-now

Radio voice: 3 in the last 64 years

John Ferguson 1961-1983
Jim Hawthorne 1984-2015
Chris Blair 2016-now

Not sure how you can even remotely pay attention to LSU sports and NOT know who Bill Franques is

Sorry, hadn't been to an LSU baseball game since the late 80s when I was the Domino's Noid and got worked over by the left field galley.

Dan Borne was the voice from above. I wanted him to do it until he is 101.
The only other voice I can recall is Sid Crocker’s. I missed him but it didn’t take me long to get used to Borne.

Have there been any others since I first started going in 1966?
I am trying to remember.

Ah look at you calling Dan Borne an immature shite stain. That will go over well…

You have swiftly developed the reputation as this websites “condescending prick”

Glad you’re back from your recent ban! But as the admins have repeatedly told you…stay away from the 225Tyga unless you’re interested in another time out

To be honest, I have been attending games since I was a kid and have never really needed the announcer past the pre-game announcement of the chance of rain.

Bill does a great job but so odd hearing his voice in Tiger Stadium and not the Box.
