I have gotten into this bad habit lately. Normally I would have a few on the weekends watching football or cooking. Had a great set up at my house with patio tv etc. Wife had a brain event in 2019. Long story short. She went into a home last March. I moved to Nashville with my kids. She passed 2 months ago. I am in a 1 bedroom apartment here which I actually like. I retired before I moved. I am bored out of my mind. My kids here work and my time with my grandkids here is limited because of their schedule which I respect. I drink heavily now(3 days a week) since my wife passed. There is only so much binge watching of shoes I can do. frick!!

Man lose some weight and try to get some snatch. But sorry for your loss. Drinking is cool. Use it for good.

Enjoy the hell out of those grandkids, baw. Do everything you can to be there for their high school and college graduations. If there's one reason to taper back a bit it's so you can be their for their weddings, too. I am sorry about the passing of your wife and hope you find comfort in living close to family.

That’s not really drinking heavily.

Sorry for your loss.

Have you tried watching TV instead of footwear?

And sorry for your loss. Maybe volunteer somewhere you can do some good, like at a hospital. If you’re a Veteran the VA has a lot of Vets who volunteer there.

Try more healthy activities during the week and save the ragers for the weekend. Find some balance. But I get it and understand son.

Wait, is that a lot? Asking for a friend.

Also, get out into the community. Go to festivals, join a club, volunteer, find some purpose.

Sorry for your loss and struggles, brother.

There are groups out there religious and non-religious that you can join. Softball leagues, darts and all kinds of things. You are in a big city, no need to sit at home and kill your liver. At least have some fun while killing your liver.

Had a buddy in Lufkin, TX with a similar situation. He found a riding club and now has been all over the country riding a bike.

Man that’s a hard habit to break.. the only way I did was to find something more enjoyable to occupy my time.. I was also pretty annoyed at how much control I was surrendering to a substance.. my problem was 1 was never enough and 7 or 8 wasn’t too many.. now 4 months sober and honestly I don’t miss it. If I’m mowing the lawn I’ll have a Heineken 0 and that’s pretty refreshing and doesn’t make me feel like shite physically or emotionally. Sorry you’re going through it man

It’s hard but just have to find some activities that you enjoy that don’t involve drinking. My parents are struggling with this right now. I’m 33 and my youngest brother is 24. He came home for a year after college and once he moved they started drinking 4-5 nights a week out of boredom. Their world revolved around their kids and now that they are out of the house they don’t have any other hobbies

Greatest day of my dad's life is was when the last kid moved out. He fished, golfed, hunted, traveled, learned new languages, almost learned to play the bass, etc. second half of life was his best half.

It's about figuring out your interests.

Find a hobby.

I'm retired as well and my hobbies are fishing and woodworking. I look forward to them every single day.

You like to fish or hunt man?

Your in a beautiful area of the country

About an hour north of you is the green river in Kentucky and some of the most beautiful land god has ever created.

You should get you a small boat that's easy to maneuver like a 17'-19' aluminum bass boat and get into fishing.

Just find a hobby for something tou half way enjoy

I'm sorry about your wife as well man, that sucks

I drink on the days that end in a Y. I don't say that as a joke but it's in all seriousness. I drink too much. Oh well.

-work out to be as healthy as you can be for yourself and kids

-find a charitable organization you like or something you can do that does good for others. even simple things like being a school crossing guard for an hour in the mornings or afternoons

-get a hobby you like and find others like you, use Facebook groups or the internet to find them. take guitar lessons, do a book club, find your niche
