According to Brett McMurphy::
Tennessee will add a 10% “talent fee” on all football tickets, starting next season. This fee will go to the players, helping fund the proposed revenue share w/the players. UT estimates per-seat price increase averaging 4.5% for entire stadium

Welcome to the new world of Free Agency in college athletics.

People have been saying this for decades. At this point it’s like those people with their “end of the world” premonitions. I mean, I guess EVENTUALLY one might get lucky and be correct, but a guess is a guess.

I mean, it will just be the minor leagues, but you have to go to class, I guess.

price to play is only gonna go up over time and at some point the price per fan is gonna keep people out of the stadium
long time season ticket holder and I'm not far from the tipping point
a lot easier to stay home and watch on tv

Nobody likes it, but it is all about the money now for the college players. I didn't mind every player getting a semester stipend (maybe eve several thousand dollars a semester), but this bullshite is ridiculous. When does it end or at least get curbed to something more reasonable?

Ticket holders will complain but still buy their tickets. Until people stop paying all together this will continue

Inflation is already up goodly. Ten pct is nothing. Especially considering all the money that gets blown on concessions, parking, lodging, etc.

Just take 50% of the head coach’s salary and split it amongst the players.

When people quit paying to see the product. Staying home and watching on tv isn't going to change anything. Viewership will go up which means the tv market will become more profitable and the cycle will continue.
I firmly believe the players should get paid in some form, but I just don't see it being the fan's responsibility to supply that money to them

yet you and everyone on this board will still watch.

Finally. It’s about time the fans contribute to the sport.

If every person that is sitting in that stadium has paid a portion of the players' "salary", then those players and coaches better be ready for a whole lot of ridicule. Joe Blow fan is paying for you to play football so you better not call him out if he complains about your performance.
At this point, why should they get free tuition? They are getting paid now. Let them pay their own tuition.

I saw yesterday, Airlines have transportation from Knoxville, TN to Oklahoma for the game this weekend. $1000.00 per ticket.
When Kamala becomes President, what will be the limit.
Will they be free?

I already don’t go to the games. I will just continue that if this is the turn everyone takes

Eventually the programs won’t be able to afford the players so corporate will step in and basically steal the teams out from under the universities. Thats what NIL has always been about

CFB needs a players' association and contracts. Without them, it is the Wild West.

This is not accurate. Season ticket sales are down across the country. It's easier to get season tickets at LSU now than it ever has been. There used to be a waiting list.
College football will survive. It's not done, but it will be hurt tremendously. OP title should've been "college sports is done" because outside of a few sports, most will not survive this.
I'm a long time season ticket holder and I almost didn't renew for this year and if LSU goes this route, I won't renew for next year.

I suppose it’s fairly predictable, but there’s something off-putting about ADs saying “we need more money because we need to pay players now” at the same time they’re taking in record revenues with these new TV contracts.
The ESPN deal means that starting this year, every SEC team is getting like $15 million more than they were under the CBS contract. The revenue sharing cap is only like $20 million.
Tennessee will not be the only school to do this though. Part of the issue is that the revenue sharing is coming fast, with only a year’s notice. So even if schools actually wanted to cut costs elsewhere it will take time for contracts to run out, projects to finish, etc.
