He said in his presser, we are not at the point where he is the guy. Did compliment his vision. But damn dude. What are you waiting on?

Do you remember the running back carousel he had all those years at Notre Dame?

Constantly changing.

Probably don't know all the blocking assignments and pass protection like Williams does. They definitely need to feed him though - maybe 50% of the runs. I've been super disappointed in Kaleb Jackson though.

Coaches need to rely on pure talent when its there and stop over analyzing things.

If you just want analytics, anyone could coach the team. A guy making 10m a year needs to have some instincts.

maybe some sort of consistency?
he averaged less than a yard per carry against Nicholls (4 yards on 5 carries).

He doesn't know he's supposed to run into the dline for zero gain.

Durham is a true freshman 3 games in, did some of you expect Kelly to come out and say we're handing the ball off to him 25 times a game coming up or something?

They arent stupid, they saw his ability and will work him in more now. He's not suddenly going to play 75% of the snaps though when we have Williams who is a do it all veteran RB and Jackson who they are trying to get going some.

He looked okay in protection to me. But let’s say he is a liability there for the time being, hypothetically.

Don’t care. USCe has a good front, our center was getting blown up, and I can’t remember him getting a carry that went for less than 4 yards.

If they know it’s coming, but they can’t stop it… fine. He doesn’t need all the reps but he should get 80% of the carries at this point.

fournette was not the guy his freshman year- running backs have a lot more responsibility than they do in highschool. this dead horse has been beat many times over the years.

If we want to win yes. Will it take him as long to get it right on Caden as it did with Perkins position?

Kelly likes you to know he is the final judge.....and it can create stubborn results.

Is it necessary to write off Williams and Jackson verbally to the media simply to make you happy? what is wrong with you? Do you know anything about the relationship between a coach and his players? Clearly you dont.....

Also probably not wanting to PO Jackson, Williams, etc.

If he keeps it up, he’ll be the guy

Y’all get so caught up in semantics.
Who cares if Josh Williams starts, but Durham gets more carries? It's obvious they will keep giving him more carries unless he goes cold. Don’t see that happening against UCLA or USA

I’ll say the same thing I said in the PC thread.. he’s 3 games into his true freshman season and he wasn’t an early enrollee.

He had a total of 5 carries for 4 yards, all against Nicholls, prior to the game Saturday.

Despite all of that he led the team in carries against South Carolina. They continued to give him the ball, while we were losing to a SEC team on the road.

If he continues to produce at that level he’s going to wind up being the #1 RB. But he’s a true freshman. He’s going to have to be effective in the passing game (both blocking and on routes) before he can be a true bell cow, every-down back.

You people are insufferable. Even if he thinks he is you don't go out to a press conference and state it after 1 good game. I'm sure he will be getting more carries but you still want your other RB's to be motivated and engaged. Geeze.

Every time someone has a good play or two, the rant thinks he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Most freshman struggle in pass protection. That means when Durham is in the defense is likely going to assume he is (1) getting the ball or (2) going out on a pass route. He'll get better in pass protection as the season goes on but, for now, he's still the No. 2 guy because Williams allows LSU to have less tendencies. The issue with the running game hasn't been the backs. We've seen Williams have good games. It's the overall approach to how they want to run the football that needs to change.

Durham will likely get more carries this week and a chance to be in on more plays where he has to pass protect. If he does a good job, he'll get more opportunities next week. If he continues to improve he can be the leading ball carrier vs. Ole Miss.
