Saw a relative (cousin's husband) recently who suddenly wasn't fat. I asked him how he lost so much weight, he sheepishly said prescription medicine (I assume Ozempic)

This stuff has to be terrible for people. But alot of people seem to be taking it.

It essentially helps you starve yourself into skinny

So you lose muscle mass along with fat

It’s horrible

Being obese is terrible for people. The reported side effects and unknowns of possibly more are why I won't take it for the 10lb vanity weight I'd love to lose, but I'm far from anyone who is going to judge someone who really needs it.

The problem is it’s really not. And like the poster above alluded to, the gain of a healthier society, lower healthcare premiums, co-morbidities, diabetes, and crowded hospitals will far outweigh (pun intended) the side effects we still haven’t realized.

One of the biggest issues with it is the social stigma and people subconscious desire to want to bury it since it’s a medication. We want to believe miracle drugs don’t exist but this one is about as close as we’ve gotten. Our society needs to learn to accept it, because we all will benefit from it.

I know some short term effects are muscle loss if you are not actively working out. I guess you have to weigh the benefits of being not fat + any side effects versus the benefits of being fat.

Losing the fat is way more important than keeping muscle mass

And likely lots more side effects. All medications have side effects.

Lots of experts are coming around on it because more benefits are coming out like preventing Parkinson’s

Btw there are 13 weight loss medications under FDA review. This is just the beginning

Yes it’s lazy but it’s better than being obese

It's very hard on peoples stomachs. If you already have acid reflux you don't want to take Ozempic.

I'm one of the ones who actually doesn't think it will be bad. Disclaimer: I'm not fat nor on Ozempic

It's simply slowing down people's digestive process, causing them to feel fuller for longer. Thus, you aren't eating as much, and you lose weight.
It was intended for Diabetics to regulate A1C, but low and behold has an added benefit!

No different that Viagra which was initially intended to be a blood pressure medication until they discovered this really awesome side-effect.

There's been so much taboo about it being "cheating"... Who gaf?!
If it "helps" someone regulate their caloric intake, then fricking fantastic!! The less fat people, the better! Obesity is a damn epidemic.

There’s a pharmacy in Lake Charles where you can get it.
