Job advice: Which would you pick?

Job A: $80K, choice between 4x10s or 5x8s, hour away, can telework most days, but will still require driving into the area, 4 weeks PTO, 5th week added in 10 years, some promotion potential but not great, very strong job stability, low stress, retire with pension in 20 years
Job B: $115K, likely 45 to 50 hours a week, 5 days a week, 3 weeks PTO, very demanding, have to respond to emergencies after hours, some promotion potential but not great, pension plan, strong stability as long as you are performing
Edit: early to mid 40s with $70-$90k in passive income annually. Need to buy a house, which will likely cost me $3500 a month. Married, both kids are adults, one of which lives with us while in college.

Doing the math
Job A: 40 hours per week, 48 weeks, estimated 1,920 hours per year. Around $41.50 per hour
Job B: ~50 hours per week, 49 weeks, estimated 2,450 hours per year. Around $47 per hour
Seems like a choice between lifestyle and money unless the remote nature of job A allows you to work more than one gig and earn substantially more

Let me say this in a way that everyone understands.

How bad do you need the money? I'd be on 4-10s like a fat kid on a candy bar.

My younger self would pick B. At my age Job A is the better option.

What are company paid benefits? 115k job w/ minimal ER health insurance contribution and $80k with 90% er paid health/dental/etc would make things tougher

What's the story on the pension for Job B?
Because I'd take B, live like A and retire early and do whatever the F you want.

Younger self being defined by “no kids,” right?
The problem with “emergencies” is that you can always see it coming, but nobody addresses the problem, and you pay the price on a Sunday afternoon, etc. your tolerance wears thin very quickly.

Questions: is it the same position with the salary difference being commiserate with the requirements? The salary by itself really isn’t enough to make this call. Is B paying over market value and A under? That’s a factor too

I chose a job like “A” out of college and I am damn glad I did. When most of the rest of the world was shut down due to Covid, my company did not lay off one person.
My bet is that you have a far better benefit package with “A” as well, so that is the one I would choose.

No kids so job A easily.
Family to support could push me to B. But 4x10 with telework is sweet, and $80k is easy if you’re on your own.

And an extra week of vacation every year, and less working hours and no “on call” so you can head out on nights and weekends?
A for me

A easy.
If you have kids. More time with them.
If you don’t have kids. More time to enjoy life.
