Rain = Crawfish?

I know it’s a beat up subject and we like to say no matter the conditions crawfish will be more expensive regardless , but I’ve seen farmers on here so maybe they can chime in here and give us their opinion about how all this rain (at least in SE La) affects the upcoming crop. Or will it be no matter what the weather conditions we’ll be taking out loans to finance crawfish boils again?

Rain the first week of September is bad.
Rain the second week of September is good.
It needs to rain next week to balance it out. Otherwise, you have to hope temperatures the third week of November don’t dip below 45°.

I’m expecting an above average crawfish crop. Historically when you get rain like we’ve been getting the past month and now the soaking rains, it’s usually a recipe for a good season quantity wise. Now different parts of the state can be different but that’s just what I’ve found. I stocked heavier than normal this past year just to help beef up the supply that took a hit last year with the really warm temperatures. Like I said I can only speak for my operation, I’m not speaking for the whole industry.

There was too much/not enough rain. And it was ummmmmm too cold of rain. And like, the soil in the ponds was too dry. Or whatever.

It’s currently too much rain and that will increase prices. If the rain stops then that will also increase prices and is equally bad.

Or rise about 48. 46-47 is the sweet spot. If we hit that mark then it will have rained too much, or not enough. And if all else fails, it will be that the crop didn't recover from the previous year.
Bottom line, crawfish will be expensive.

Between now and March 1 there will be several potential weather events, or other, that the Mudbug Mafia can point to as a cause for higher prices.
For example, if Commie Kamel gets elected most people, even somewhat well off, will not be able to afford crawfish for the foreseeable future, which will be bleak anyway. So we can just boil turnips instead.

High arse crawfish prices are here to stay. Look what the seasonings the onions the garlic the deliciousness cost now. Mud bugs are for the rich. I'm going to play sudo-rich at least twice this year. Because I love them. And can't eat them all myself.

If there is not enough rain, prices go up. If there is too much rain, prices go up. If there is a perfect amount of rain, prices go up.

A lot of this rain was raining sideways…. Not ideal for crawfish. Higher prices inbound

They ran a special report on the Baton Rouge news Wednesday night about how the Apple Snails are becoming a threat to the pond crops this year.
Which is complete bull$hit.
Those snails showed up 10-12 years ago in the marshes and some species of bird has eaten them to all but gone.
So pretty much like everything the news reports…FABRICATED

Limpkins used to migrate here once a year. But after they started eating the apple snails they stayed here year round and tore up the snails around Bayou Pigeon. The snails are still here but much better controlled by the limpkins. Vegetation that the snails devoured is returning in the swamp.

Rain is pretty much never bad for crawfish imo
The comments of prices always being high are stupid - stop trying to buy crawfish in Jan/Feb or find another supplier because 20-23 -especially 23 the prices were low- reasonable
