Man, Blitz sorry to hear that. I am currently having the lightning flashes in my left eye although it’s seemed to get better on its own, might not be far behind you.
Have a more pressing GI issue for which I am getting a double scope in 2 weeks- lower and upper. God help me, lol.

Mine just happened suddenly. Large dark circle in vision of left eye. Doc said there was a tear in the retina that allowed fluid underneath causing the detachment.
No real pain. Just a crappy recovery. I was conscious during most of the procedure, which was really strange.

Oof. Good luck with that.

Wife (no pics) had one.a.few years back. Injected the oil first, no luck. Next was laser, no luck. Lastly the did whats called a buckle which was apparently the last option, which worked. Recovery was slow and brutal... head down in special foam pillow for quite awhile. Best of luck

I had mine in mid June. They did a vitrectomy and put a scleral buckle around my eye. Gas bubble took 9 weeks to go away. I still have redness in that eye. Retina has reattached, but my vision is still blurry. Will have cataract surgery on that eye, but waiting another few months to make sure the retina stays in place. I feel like I’m in a constant state of learning how to see.

Reminds me of the Detachable Penis song.
Fare thee well in your recovery, friend.

How did you detach your retina? I heard that was a gay thing.

Had it done back in college. Multiple small tears in the retina that detached. They put an implant behind the eye to push it back to the retina. Wore an eye patch for like 2 months with daily eye drops and ointments. I regained most of my vision in the eye but never got 100% back.

I have had:
Retinal tear resulting in
Cataract surgeries, both eyes.
Retinal peel, one eye
Yag laser surgery, both eyes
Vitrectomy, both eyes.
All in a three year span. Vision is now 20/25 and continues to improve.
Only issue now is everything in my left eye (retinal peel) appears slightly larger than from using my right eye. Retinal specialist says it can take up to five years to balance out

Yeah .... both eyes, one twice.
Right one, pool stick baseball bat style to the eye on Haye Street in Fayetenam in '79.
Left one, car accident coming back to Benning from Orlando in 81 ... buddy driving hit a Friends of Jesus Monza 2+2 changing a flat tire in the emergency lane while half asleep heading north on 75 ... I was asleep in the passenger seat of a 76 white, with a maroon landau top, Ford LTD coup .... I went throught the windshield.
Then, about five or six years ago, the right one detached again. They reattached it with a laser this time.
Have had both cataracts removed as well ... and lasix in both eyes, during cataracts surgery.
Had the orbital sockets in both eyes repaired as well. Right one from the pool stick at Rick's Lounge was the worst of the two.

I know someone who had it twice in a short period of time after a major frick-up from a Lasik procedure. He still has that oil in his eye after almost a year because of other medical issues that came up during that time. Lasik usually works out for the best, but not for this person.

I had it .. is your retina Mac off . ? The surgery was a piece of cake. The recovery sucked. … I had to order this chair to keep my head face down for two freaking weeks. Had to sleep face down , eat face down … watch tv face down with a mirror pointed at tv through a hole in that chair .
I could last about two hours in bed , two hours in chair … so constantly moving back and forth . By the second week I was so tired I didn’t know if my eyesight was worth it
It was brutal
Second surgery was to remove gas bubble about nine months later. My eye was dilated for the entire time. After I stopped with the drops it still took a month for my eye to go back to normal
Cataract surgery was next to get rid of cataract that oil bubble left behind . Vision in that eye is about 20/40 now
Prayers to you ! I can say it was worth it now but it wasn’t easy

I was told the gas bubble dissipates on its own. The oil had to be removed.
But yeah. My neck hurts from constantly keeping my head down. Surgery was ok. I was actually conscious through most of it.
