SIAP
3rd & 8 play where Woodland got called for PI. USC’s offense was good, but we were getting some pressure on the QB

I really like what Baker is doing.

Which made what Moss did so impressive. He was getting pressure and got smoked a couple of times, but hung in there and threw some dimes.

We had very consistent pressure and caused a lot of havoc. Just didn’t have the ball bounce our way. I expect that to change in the coming weeks. Keep applying that pressure and good things are bound to happen.

Now show some of the blocks in the back and holding that USC did while Moss was dropping those dimes.

Oh so he did play. Never noticed

Most women who watch don’t really notice a lot of what’s going on in the game so don’t feel alone.

I almost got a thought of Ali Highsmith wrecking OSU in the sugar bowl.

2 FF that USC was able to jump on and 2 batted passes that the defense got their hands on but couldn't haul in. Weeks gets almost immediate pressure and Moss throws a pass falling on his back that is caught.
It seemed like every bounce and every call broke the wrong way.
But, good teams create their own breaks.

Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to your opponent. Miller made some throws under pressure. USC's WRs also made some tough and contested catches. But LSU also had 7.0 TFLs, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 more QB hurries. Not to mention two bubble screens that the DB read correctly and broke on that could have been INTs. USC is likely going to have a good offense because Riley's teams always have a good offense...and they had 20 points with 1:00 to go in the game. Granted, they had Caleb Williams at QB last season, but USC only scored 27 or less points in three games (ND, Oregon, UCLA). ALL three had a top 20 defense.
Perhaps I'm just weird, but the reason I'm not melting down from the loss is because we saw a LOT of good on both sides of the ball. The loss is frustrating because it feels like LSU let the game slip away when if just a handful of plays go differently LSU wins the game. The margin between a W and L was razor then.
But you didn't see many plays where guys didn't seem to know where they were going. You didn't see a team that was awful on third down. You didn't see a team that was passive and hoping to do just enough to keep the opponent from scoring. I don't think LSU goes 10-1 the rest of the way. But I'm still pretty bullish that this team can be pretty good. If LSU can get the same type of effort on defense they got on Sunday they are probably going to win far more games than they lose.

LSU wins this game if they play the young guys at DB. We have to get them ready for Ole Miss.

Too me, the game was summed up to three things.
1) Crappy play calling the 2nd half
(Too much inside zone runs. It was not working and not killing the clock after 2 minute warning?
2) The ball bouncing USC way. (Not grabbing turnovers and their WRs making great catches) I still say that insane catch hit the ground, but it's hard to overturn it.
3) Refs seem like they were picking on LSU more, but missed calls against USC
( I'll give you the penalties that LSU committed was right on but come on , they didn't call a block in the back on the punt return or numerous holding calls that gave the quarterback plenty of time to throw to those wide open receivers?) it seem like those Big 12 officials had a vendetta against an SEC team.
I'm willing to bet that if that game was played nine more times, LSU would win majority of those.
I kind of hope LSU goes to the playoffs and faces USC again. I'd bet it'd be a different turnout.

Hate to admit it but he really did play well under pressure.

Yeah, a guy posting as tenderfoot tigah knows more about who should be playing then the coaches do. And this has been consistent through every coaching staff we’ve ever had.

Like the pic above. Left had full of jersey and right hand in the facemask on #92. J, Lee.

The offensive gameplans of both teams using a ball control passing game did surprise me.
Obviously, both teams wanted to keep their defenses rested and off the field, given recent history.
Otherwise, the game played out as I imagined and I told everyone to take the points b/c it was a last possession game.
The greatest cause for me being upset was that I allowed delusions of grandeur to take hold when we held on 4th down and got the ball back with a 4 pt lead and 8 minutes left. My expectations for this team did not include a given win in this game, but for 30 seconds of actual time, I let that thought creep in.
Well, Major Burns brought me back to reality before we even started the possession. Followed by our shizophrenic play caller who can't decide if we are hurrying up or managing the clock in a game where the O/U was 67 points and both teams had combined for 30 points with 8 minutes left.
We continuously snapped the ball in our last possessions with the clock running and 20 odd seconds on the play clock. Timed out perfect for USC to win the game.

We were in prime position to recover those and both bounced perfectly to a red jersey.
And don't forget the 2 batted balls that were in there for 3-4 seconds.
