Does anyone know why the city no longer picks up limbs from the curb on trash day? What are you supposed to with them?

Back in 2020 someone in city government misheard “defund the police” as “don’t pick up the leaves”

They will pick up, but they arent great about. There are also rules you must follow on what they will and wont pick up (posted on the website). If your stuff is in the allowable list, then you can call them and complain and they will pick it up. I live on a corner lot, and have noticed they will pick stuff up on one side of the house but not the other.

In my neighborhood I find that they will collect a lot of small neatly stacked pile of yard debris but will not pick up one huge pile of debris. This is because they do not use the claw truck anymore, and it is just two guys picking things up by hand which is terribly inefficient and more difficult for all involved.

Looks like it's about time to take more family trips to the dump.

Technically they are no longer picking up piles that require a boom/grapple truck.

My hunch is that individual metro council members and our madame mayor-president got an earful of negative feedback about their mind-numbing stupid decision making abilities and now they are just quietly doing it if you call to complain enough and/or they randomly do it.

That's right I forgot I'm a Saint Georgian now.

I guess yard debris pick up is one of the many perks we still enjoy.

They renegotiated the contract with the vendor.

They raised our rates and grossly reduced the services. Win Win for the vendor and the city government kickback machine. Taxpayers fricked and no one cares.

Now they use any excuse to tell you your pile isn't in compliance and you have to remove it at your cost. My favorite is when they tell you that your debris is from a contractor and they must remove it. I cut the limbs myself, what about that pile makes them think a contractor did it?

Figured that was the case. I have oak trees and pecan trees that are always dropping small limbs. The pile just continues to grow since they haven’t made an attempt in last 3 months.

Wish more people knew the rules. My neighbor cut up a 30" diameter tree and put it at the road thinking someone would put it up.

I made small neat piles this weekend and they picked them up Monday. 3 piles small branches 2-3” thick, one pile a twiggy leafy bitch but they got it all. I was not optimistic but ultimately grateful.

Spray paint a slur on the pile and it'll disappear with the quickness
