Longest you’ve had a house sit on the market?

New construction house down the road has been sitting empty for a little over 2 years. Nice home, been through 2-3 minor price drops. Thinking the builder must be losing his arse, but also doesn’t seem to want to drop the price significantly and get it off his hands.
Personally, I’ve never bought a house until I was under contract on existing one.
What’s the longest you’ve had a house sit on the market and how much of a pinch did it feel like?

not in real estate, but that Bancroft double on Metairie Road has been on the market for like 3 years.

on and off for 6 years. it was rented for a portion of that, but it was listed as for sale from 2008-2014.
i got a job offer 4 hours away on 10/31/2008. i then learned about subprime mortgages a week later and why i was getting $30k lowball offers.

Took over a year to sell our starter home. The market was still down from the housing crash and we sold it for less than we paid for it.

There are over five houses in Arabi that have been sitting for at least two years. New construction

Currently selling my first home and its been 45 days on the market. I've received some bullshite offers on it and i've dropped the price $10,000 recently. Let's hope it sells here soon.

The house I’m in was a new construction in 2014. I think the builder and his family lived in it off and on mainly for school zoning but it sat on the market for at least five years. Absolutely beautiful house. Was definitely over priced but not extraordinarily. I had it inspected twice because I kept thinking there were something we weren’t being told about it. Been in the house 4.5 years and couldn’t be happier.

Just over 2 years when I moved from Orlando right at the start of the housing crash in late 2007. I had to take a personal loan out and bring money to the closing table to sell the house in 2009.

It took a long arse time for values to recover in some markets. We paid less for our 2nd house in 2012 than it was worth in 2004.

Prices are higher than giraffe pussy in the parish. I can't believe what they are asking for houses.

If you are listing over 350K in this area it might sit for a long long time.

Just had my house in Baton Rouge sit from September to June of this year and my other house in green trails sat for a year during Covid.

I’m not in real estate either but every time I drive by that thing I can’t help but wonder who the hell did they think wants to spend over $1 million to share a wall with somebody?

Everything in my neighborhood is sitting right now. For those familiar with Shreveport it's a neighborhood off Southern loop right by Provenance.... GREAT area, nice houses.... but no one is buying

1 day...4 different houses, multiple offers. We're good at what we do.

Sold 2 houses, one sold in 18 hours (1999), the other sold in 10 days ( 2012).

Had a house in 2008 that pretty much bankrupted me, listed first of 2008 and sold on the last possible day of 2009.
Meanwhile, we were renting a house in our new city.
Ended up breaking even, sort of. I had to write a check.
But the cost of rent for 2 years, let's just say it was like $48,000 on top of mortgage... plus utilities, repairs, and gas was over $4/gallon back then, so yeah. My savings went to zero.

A couple years when I had my condo in Uptown NOLA. Bought in 2006. I moved to DFW in 2009. I ended up renting it out , renters damaged it pretty good and sold at a $30k loss in 2011 to get it off my hands. I learned a lot about what not to do on home ownership and rentals. We have a rental unit besides primary residence now. I had to have the bad rental experience to learn how to be a good landlord.
