For those of you looking for a great show and haven't watched Gangs of London yet...It is now on Netflix.

I will probably do a rewatch before season 3 comes out.

Is this like a Gangs of New York spin off?

Mostly, they dont speak gangster like in a guy ritchie movie too much.

The fight scenes in s01 are badass and the best parts.

No, it's modern times.

Tells the story of London being torn apart by the turbulent power struggles of its international gangs and the sudden power vacuum that's created when the head of London's most powerful crime family is assassinated.

1st review:
quote:

Bloody and Violent I dont think that the producers set out to make a realistic portrayal of gang life in London. This was created for entertainment purposes and needs to be viewed as such. Gareth Evans forte is extreme action sequences and this is undoubtedly where this series excels. The action set pieces are truly intense and very over the top. People don't just get killed on this show. they are butchered and the concept of less is more is left on the floor as teams of machine gun wielding mercenaries do battle with crazed criminal families and drug kingpins in seemingly never ending gunfights. The police never seem to hear all this gunplay and the criminals are able to "clean up". Now, i find all this totally acceptable ...as I said this is not an in depth of portrayal of gang culture in London it is a series made in the spirit of entertainment for those of us who like their action as stylised as a Kung Fu movie with a side order of extra tomato sauce ...by the bucket load!!

I get more of a Jason Bourne than Kung fu style.

The protagonist is likeable which keeps me watching.

I wasn't prepared for the gay orgy. And Lale taking out a company of turkish soldiers by herself was ridiculous but thankfully just one scene in the first 4 or 5 episodes I watched.

Just started watching this and I don’t know how I missed this show. The best gun/action in any series I think I’ve ever scene. S1 E6 epic battle (the entire episode) was so violent and awesome.

Each episode I can’t believe how well the action sequences are. Better than most high budget movies each episode and the characters and acting is very interesting.

For anyone not familiar with Gareth Evans (S1 show runner and action scene dirextor), he’s THE best action filmmaker working today. The Raid 1 and 2 are the finest action movies ever made from a choreography, direction, and editing standpoint. Be sure to watch them

I just finished both seasons of Gangs. S1 was fun, but S2 was ridiculous in a bad way. The betrayals and alliances are absurd and unbelievable and things just escalate to hysterical degree
