The Hoover City Council approved Monday night a Southeastern Conference proposal to extend the SEC Baseball Tournament at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium through 2028 with options to continue the event to 2030. The Hoover Park and Recreation Board will take a final vote today on whether to accept the terms of the agreement. According to the Hoover Sun, Hoover is offering to make $11 million in improvements at the Met.

Hoover has hosted the SEC Baseball Tournament for 27 years. The event has shattered attendance records over the past two years.

I always dreamed of the SEC baseball tournament being played at Zephyr/Baby Cakes Stadium at least once, just out of pure convenience. Thought that would have been fun for a lot of us. Now we lost our baseball for rugby, but that’s a different topic for a different board.

Hoover is nice though. I really don’t mind the drive up there and getting away for a baseball vacay.

Mixed feelings about this. Love Hoover, have made the trip many times, but somewhere like Nashville could be a really cool trip.

Good. It doesn't need to leave there.

I'm happy to hear about the uimprovements to the Met. They have been needed for a while. If they are done correctly, the stadium will be as accommodating as the city of Hoover.

That stadium's infastructrue wasn't capable of handling the amount of people that were at the later games of the tourney this year.

Having finally made a trip there this year I couldn't agree more. I am planning to go back next year.

As long as the League's head coaches have a major role, it will remain there. They love playing there, primarily because its similarity to Ohama's stadium.

Need to add a day w new format. Will be many late night early morning innings if they don’t. And that sucks for everyone

The tournament already starts on a Tuesday. You can't start it any earlier. Since it's single elimination now, there will actually be less game than before.

Well, yeah. Hoover makes bank on that tournament.

The last Sunday of that last one was nuts. Learned to go several hours early next time. Or camp in the parking lot.

I'm not sure about Frisco, but I think Biloxi seats only about 1/2 of what Hoover does.

Nashville is a massive pain in the arse for an event like baseball with campers and tailgating. It’s a much better fit for basketball, where most opt to stay in hotels and tailgating isn’t a big deal.
