say you wear a long sleeve button up shirt with an undershirt to work. it is an office job and you are never outside.

do you wear it again before washing it and bringing it to the dry cleaning?

Yes sir. Can usually get 3 wears out if it.

Of course, probably have to re iron after the first wear.

And taking into account no spills, etc.

yes. I usually wear my starched dress shirts twice unless they get too wrinkled.

Of course I wear it more than once.
I work from home now. I mostly bought stuff that could be machine washed though. Guess I was more business casual, not suit and tie. My stuff didn’t really need dry cleaning

I sniff the pits and check for stains. If it's all good, it gets hung back up.

Yes. Once or maybe twice with ironing and fabric refresher.

October to April, yes. May to September, nope. Even if you're in an office most of the day, at some point you've probably walked outside to your car in the heat. Even with an undershirt, I go ahead and wash after one wear. We're business casual, but the rare days I do wear a dress shirt, I've got a suit jacket or a sports coat on over it for meetings, and the sleeves get wrinkled and you inevitably sweat in them.

I wear my USAF blues several times before getting them cleaned and pressed.

1. No.

2. Do people really dry clean their day-to-day button up shirts?

I dry clean after each wear. I don't like wearing undershirts with long sleeve button ups, so my pits on the shirt smell after one day of wear, thus they need to be cleaned. I have a closet full of those types of shirts so I always have plenty other shirts clean, pressed, and ready to go.

2-3 times assuming no spills or unusual sweating.

If you don’t smell, didn’t sweat and didn’t soil it, should be good to go for another day.

I would just steam it or send it through the dryer with a damp wash cloth.

Yes, but I also don’t buy my day-to-day button up shirts from Kohl’s.

Unless you’ve got a schedule for dry cleaning that coincides with the work week, then here’s what I recommend:

After every dry cleaning, you’ve got 3-5 uses, considering you aren’t working outside, before the clothing is too compromised to be presentable. Washing and using an iron at home between dry cleanings is really all you need to delay the dry cleaning process. If you need a nice shirt and tie for more formal meetings, keep that separate from your other attire for such occasions.

With a 4 and 6 year old home, and only a few hours per night, I make laundry easier on my wife and sometimes wear the same pants and shirt 5 days in a row. But, I work at a desk and rarely break a sweat.

Tell me your shirt has a yellow ring around the neck without telling me it has a yellow ring around the neck.

Neither do I.

I just wash them on cold and hand iron. But I guess if you’re in a job where you’re wearing a suit every day and have to go to dry cleaners constantly anyway, I get it.

Absolutely. I hate ironing and even wrinkle free dress shirts don't look great coming out the dryer. It's much easier to drop the dirty shirt in the dry cleaning bag, drop it off one day a week, and come back the next day and pick up crisp clean shirts.

I'm not talking about golf polos. I take my long sleeve button ups to be cleaned every week.

Yes. The telltale sign it is time for a wash is to check for ring around the collar.
