and 4 of them are under .309. Is it the pitching or new era hitting philosophy that caused this.

Only 2 in the NL. Arraez leading the NL with a .308

For comparison

1993 - 36
1998 - 49
2005 - 33
2009 - 42
2013 - 24

Seems like Ohtani is swinging for the fences Everytime.

MLB tried to frick with the balls this year to combat what the Braves did last year by breaking the team HR mark but they made the balls TOO dead.

In 1996 there were 16 players with 40 or more home runs lol.

2023 - 6
2022 - 4
2021 - 5

in 1996 there were 4962 total home runs hit

2017 - 6105
2018 - 5585
2019 - 6776
2021 - 5940
2022 - 5215
2023 - 5868

the league has only expanded by 2 teams but HRs are almost 1000 more per season now. How many individual players hitting 40+ is irrelevant. A lot more home runs are hit now than in the steroid era. PEDs are still prevalent, pitchers throw harder, balls have been hotter, and players have used analytics and technology to end up where we are now. If the mlb didn't care about steroids like the 90s, home runs would be absurd.

Just a testament to how great Judge has been. Imagine if he took roids and he got to hit the stuff that Barry Bonds got to hit!

lol if you think baseball players, including Judge, aren't using PEDs

but yeah imagine if an MLB player built like an NFL defensive end was on roids

The 2019 season was such a fricking joke with the juiced balls

LINK

10 of the top 25 highest team HR totals came from 2019. 4 of the top 5 are from 2019. 24/30 teams hit 200+

pretty incredible stat

I wonder if the pitch clock had any impact on this, or if it's just spin rates and velocity eating up batters left and right.

Would be interested to know the factors besides just good pitching.

That's worse than 1968.

Based on the provided search results, the 1968 NL batting leaders are:

Roberto Clemente (Pittsburgh Pirates) - .342
Tony Gonzalez (St. Louis Cardinals) - .325
Matty Alou (San Francisco Giants) - .317

I love baseball, but when June arrives and the MLB starts sucking off transvestites for a full month, I just can’t support them. We tend to just watch the first month or two of the season then forget they’re even playing.

How high does Turner have to go to get to first?

If they’re hitting so many more home runs than the steroid era someone has to be hitting them and they’re not going for Bonds’ record

The average fastball velocity this year is around 94.2 from starters.

Average from relievers is over 96.

It is really hard to hit high velocity

It wasn't that long ago starters averaged under 90mph

Once again starter velocity is over 94 this year on average. Relievers over 96, we have removed starters earlier and earlier and replaced them with relievers that throw harder than ever
