He’s coached all over the parish & has high name recognition.

Hopefully he is the only R on the ballot so the votes don’t split. Assuming he gets 100% of the Trump voters then he needs to convert at least 5% of Kamala vote assuming EBR goes 55-45 blue again.

I think he has a really good chance to win imo.

He’s the only obvious choice for me. I’m not voting for a Democrat or the man who likes to dress up like a woman

He doesn’t appear to have the resources required to win.

I disagree. I see signs all over the city.

He is the strongest R candidate we have had in a while. With the demographics, a popular HS football coach is the type of person you want to run

No chance in a runoff, if he makes that. Hope I am wrong, just don’t see it.

I hope you are correct. I’d love to see him win.

Is he getting in front of small groups? Is he Getting money to advertise? Is he planning to get out front and get his platform out there? What about endorsements?

According to his FB page it looks like. This race will heat up post Labor day

His best shot is in the first round imo

No way he gets half the vote in the first primary. That would be a stunning upset.

He doesn’t seem to be the most knowledgeable on the issues or especially charismatic on the campaign trail. However, if he does a good job going door to door and meeting voters, he can make a runoff, and then it’s anyone’s game since the runoff isn’t the same time as the presidential election. I don’t think he will win, but he could with the right campaign and strategy. If I’m placing bets, Ted James is our next mayor.

A vote for Sid Edwards is a vote for SWB.

Coach Sid is a great man, but the only thing his campaign will accomplish is keeping Ted out of the runoff, and Ted is the only person who can beat her in a heads up.

A vote for Sid Edwards is a vote for SWB.

His campaign account has a balance of $6,307 according to his campaign finance report, so yes it appears he does not have the resources required to win.

Edit- Included in that 6k is $510 from himself

I would love to see the Edwards campaign catch fire, but I do not see how he has time to teach, coach football and run for mayor.

Did he retire?

It's been over 20 years since a republican has won that position in EBR.

I know it's not common era but what was Bobby Ray Simpsons campaign strategy?

Bobby Simpson got complacent and relied on the status quo. EBR needed a shot in the arm, a boost. Kip came on with energy and his green light plan to get things moving.

Unfortunately, there are four Republicans running:
Sid Edwards
Tammy Cook
Nathaniel Hearn
Steve Myers
