Do Dentist not fill Cavities anymore? Went 8 months ago and everything was good. Go in yesterday and now he says I need 2 root canals. How is that even possible? And no I don’t do meth. It was 2 different dentist at Louisiana Dental Center. Seems like a money and insurance scam

I just go to check out the hotties.

The hygienist is the most important person in the visit. Seems like most dentists just glance at xrays and take a cursory look with a pick anymore.
Yeah, it's pretty much a scam industry.

This may be the problem
Find a local dentist with their own practice

I am a dentist and I cannot tell you the number of times that I have had patients come in for second opinions after going to Aspen Dental or other corporate offices. Multiple fillings and crowns diagnosed and I have found absolutely nothing on x-ray or clinical exam. Always get a second opinion if you have suspicions. There are good dentists and shady dentists just like in any other profession.

He’s right. This is the worst place to go.
I have dental friends and they say this is where all the worst dentists go to work.

Try a local, self employed dentist you'll have better luck than a corporation with whoever they can grab out of dental school.

That's like going to Walmart, then complaining about the quality of the products they carry. Find a good individual dental practice and stick with them.

You only need a root canal if your tooth hurts. Are you in pain? If not, then you don't need a root canal.
Also, a tooth that needs a root canal can always just be pulled. If it's in the back of your mouth and won't mess up your smile, you can always just pull it rather than do a root canal.

Ole saying in medicine. The A students make the best researchers, the B students make the best doctors and the C students make all the money. Probably the same in law too.

I go to Corkern Dental on Bluebonnet. I always get to chat with him a bit, seems like a nice guy, and they've never hit me with anything weird. I'm a clincher so they find a small crack here and there, or a small cavity to fill.

Would post some hygienist pics but I am on the watch list.
I went in 3 years ago..said I had a cavity. Ignored it. Went back two years in a row and that cavity never got mentioned again on checkups.

I should have known when they said “ you have really good insurance”

I’ve always felt like some are a bit crooked. Moving around but, I used to frequent different ones. One will make it sound like you need some huge, pricey procedure done ASAP….do nothing.
Go to another dentist a year later and everything looks great!
Go to another one a year after that and doesn’t say anything about the problem a couple years before, but mentions something else needed.
Never get anything done, never have pain, discomfort, or any visible issues.
I know it’s not the answer, but I eventually just stopped going. Prob haven’t been to a dentist in 7 years.

There’s several really good ones in the Monroe/West Monroe area.
A close 1st cousin is a recently retired dentist from Shreveport who was elected by his peers to the presidency of the American Dental Association so many times he eventually had to tell them to stop. I now go to the same dentist as his mother and brother which is funny as I picked him off a good sized list of recommendations cousin furnished for the area.
But he made it clear to stay away from the corporate offices.
