Updated: we can at best tie China in golds. My bad didn’t realize we had a cycling event.

Women’s volleyball laid a huge egg and we lost the wrestling match. Women’s basketball can pull it within 1 but we don’t have anything else as far as I know.

Men losing the medley relay for the first time ever plus us giving up a sure gold in the high jump are the two that loom the largest for me.

What a gut punch. Had the chances this morning but couldn’t get it done.

Do we still have a shot in one of the cycling events?

100%. Our Golds whip theirs overall no doubt. We do need to get better in diving for sure.

Oh come on. You wouldn't trade the US golds for all of the diving and table tennis glory?

China’s only sort of memorable medal is a doper winning gold in swimming.

We still should have beaten them, but whatever.

No one cares about diving other than the chinese government as a strategy to kick their gold tallies up

Yep, they were bound and determined to dominate the Beijing games, so they identified all sorts of minor sports and plowed tons of resources into them and that continues today.

I will give them props for taking care of business in those events but they know they can’t compete in the premier events.

I just read that Kerr told him “let’s jump off” and he said “let’s go”. Kerr didn’t want to share. The Bama guy said he would have shared if Kerr was for it. So no way he could have said no to that challenge.

Well like bo Christopher just said and I agree with tacky sweater didn't Valentine just win the cycling event which would put us at 39. now I know the medals have not been updated as of yet but I keep lookin and the only showing gold it shows us as Winning the women's team pursuit but not showing us winning the omnium which every indication is saying Jennifer Valente one goal which should put us to 39 and then if the women's win basketball that puts us at 40 and there's no doubt when you go to a Todd breaker you go to the most metals and we beat China go US

I don’t think we will be pulling 14 year olds out of school and sending them to diving academies in prep for LA

We don't have the resources to teach our men how to pass a baton.

Do you really think we are gonna go all out for badminton, table tennis, trampoline and diving?

Right?

I thought it was interesting during one of the diving competitions that they mentioned one of the divers was a gymnast and the Chinese government basically told him not anymore you’re a diver now.

Some folks are talking this a smidge too seriously.
