They opened and closed a a location in Zachary this year and are now closing the Bocage location, so I’m guessing the Mid-City isn’t far behind.

Owner Sarah Joy Hays says she is not sure when the 7575 Jefferson Highway Suite D location in Bocage will close, but plans to close are in the works.
Meanwhile, CounterSpace Mid City, located at 5621 Government Street, will remain open for the foreseeable future, according to Hays.
…she hopes her decision to close the shop would "provide a gentle reminder to all of Baton Rouge the importance of supporting local businesses year round. We hate to see so many of our fellow small business friends struggling and hope that we can rise up as a community to shop small and local. TheAdvocate

Yeah her business plan is not very good
She’s struggling to stay afloat
If you are gonna have a brick and mortar store then you should be able to walk in and get what you want
The pop tarts look delicious but you can’t walk in and get one
Everything has to be preordered

I think she expanded too much too fast. She had a location on Perkins, Jefferson, Zachary, and mid city at the same time.
All but Zachary are within 3 miles of each other.
Best damn cookie in town though.

Government location is great. I hope she figures it out and it makes it

Businesses that market well and have a great product will survive.
I've never heard a single ad for the place nor have I had their food. I couldn't tell you what they have that stands out. I think all I know is they sell cookies at the very least?
Opening two within 5 minutes of each other was also a really dumb move.

Zachary loc closed before it ever officially opened.

is she chastising us for not supporting her business enough? I can't quite tell if this is a subtle dig or not. Sounds a bit entitled IMO

not sure who disagreed, but you are bang on..."eat local" "drink local" etc, gets old, when local is not good

That's exactly what she's doing. Blaming the community for her not making it. Not a good idea to bash your customer base when you depend on social media and word of mouth to sell your product.
These type of places seem to be popping up everywhere. They offer a high end, small batch product which is usually pretty good, but it is a lot of work for the customer to get the product. Like someone else said, you can't just walk in and grab a pastry etc. There is a market for these products (soccer moms who want to impress their friends on insta), but its hard to pay rent in a desirable location without a readily available product.

What she needs to do is get her product in local grocery stores instead of trying to run multiple locations. Maxwells, Alexander’s etc. Her potential customers are already shopping at the high-end local places.

What does this place offer?
What exactly is it?
A coffee shop with a bakery inside?

Literally went in to government tuesday at 2 oclock. They had no chocolate chip cookies or white chocolate cookies left. Only a couple brownies and sprinkle cookies. I bought them but wasn't what i wanted or enough for what i needed them for.

I honestly don't know how the Government Street location stays open. Perhaps they got a sweet deal on a sublease from the Gov't Taco that closed down.

the problem is that her CC cookies are good. And people pay $3.50 each, myself included. She does sell her cookies at other retail locations like French Truck Coffee.
I just do not see how opeing 4 locations that each do different things was going to work in pretty high rent loactions. Perkins was perfect for her.
Jefferson was good, but there was a bunch of retail goods like high end cooking gear. Sorry, but we really just want your cookies.

I’ll preface this by saying I have had the cookies a couple times and they were good.
Bit I’ve only been inside once and it reminded me of a place that a bored housewife opened because she was good at baking and wanted something to do with her time while her husband was at work making money.
I think she also had a place by Uncle Earls that closed, but that may have been something else.

I go to govt location every other week. The biscuits and pasteries are good, but breakfast tacos are bland and pre-made. I dont like a pre-made taco. French truck does what they are doing better in terms of breakfast.
