BK speaks on DBs (Stamps & Woodlands)

For those who say BK isn’t blunt and sugar coats his pressers.. I’d beg to differ.
I appreciate the candid response from him here.
“We’ve put together some good periods of time; there’s no doubt that progress is being made, but not to the point where it’s Championship-level play. I think it’s going to be a journey for those guys in particular. We’ll look for them to continue to put [good] practices together instead of a good period and then a not-so-good period. And the great part about it is that both of them clearly know what they need to do, and they’re working really hard at it. And they’re not the only two; there’s a number of guys that are in that category of trying to do what is expected of them… Some of them are below the line right now, but I can see an uptick in performance from a lot of those guys. I would just say that after five practices, there are really good signs, but we’ve got a ways to go.”

That's coachspeak for 'We've got a real big problem at CB'

Eerily similar to rhetoric last year about the defense.

eh. i think he means exactly what he says. our most talented guys happen to very inexperienced. as we get more consistent we will see the talent come through.

I actually disagree.
I think they are getting better.
Look at this vid with Stamps vs Lacy.
This is excellent coverage.. they are improving.

Lacy barely had to do anything. Rough play actually, but he was in position

i mean even the best cornerbacks ever get beat on a perfect throw and catch. Derek stingley gave up 200 yards to devonta smith during his dominant freshmen season cause Tua had pinpoint accuracy. Your gonna give up some plays at db its about competing and being in position to make plays

Reminds me of the Florida game that year. Nobody remembers the plays Sting gave up, but they sure as hell remember that pick in the endzone.

I mean, he's just saying they're young players that are getting better. Not that they're bad.

Exactly. Mental toughness and short-term memory are corners' most important traits. Kyle Trask went at Stingley most of that game and finally made him pay with that 4th quarter interception.

This is encouraging & expected with 2 young guys potentially starting at CB.

Lolol 3-4 losses incoming
You’re an idiot. 3 losses last year even with the incompetence at DC

Stamps could have possible squeezed the route more towards the sidelines, but that's a senior on a good pass using his experience to beat a younger corner. It happens.

I got a bad feeling again about this secondary.

No ones' fault but LSU for our corner back play the last 4 years along with this year. We have recruited below average at this position and people kept saying we were fine. This is one of the main reasons we haven't even competed for an SEC title.

and could have lost 5 or 6 games because of our defense. Daniels won us the aggies game got lucky against arkansas and only beat mizz because of a hieisman performance by one man and we got lucky vs a bad wisconsin team. Plus that was with the 2nd best offense in LSU history. They won't be nearly as good as last years offense. Some of you people need to live in reality.

While this is true the inverse is as well. We could have just as easily been 11-1 with our only loss being to FSU.

we were closer to losing 5 to 6 games than only losing one. Like I said one man kept us from losing 6 games and he isn't here anymore. We don't have the talent at CB or Safety to win the SEC right now. We should have recruited better the last 5 years.
