Saints camp Day 11 observations:
- This was the Spencer Rattler show today in part because Jake Haener (undergoing a procedure) wasn’t there, but also because Rattler took advantage of the extra reps with precise throws.
- Rattler’s ability to diagnose pressure and escape really stands out, at least in a practice setting. He had two on-the-money passes in specific that saved the play. I’m interested to see how that translates once the preseason begins.
- No Alvin Kamara in team drills, but I thought Jamaal Williams had a nice day. Good, strong runs and showed some burst that frankly wasn’t really there last year.
- That said, Willie Gay had a stretch where he absolutely wrapped up three runs in a row — including when Williams had the ball. Michael Hodges yelled “Atta boy, Willie!” a few times (normally those atta boys had been for Pete Werner)
- A lot of heavier personnel looks this morning.
- Kool-Aid McKinstry got a lot of work at nickel on the second team with no Ugo Amadi at practice.
- Blake Grupe hit a 61 yarder (!) and then did a little strut to celebrate. But he went 1 of 2 in New Orleans’ final two minute drills, including a doink to end it.
- The Derek Carr to Chris Olave connection had another busy day.
- DNPs: Amadi, Haener, St. Brown, Means, Werner, Shaheed, Lattimore, Miller, Adebo, Ford, Davis, Jeffcoat

Happy to hear kool-aid being mentioned.

are we still trying Grupe? what about punter?

Both have it seems good competition in camp. Grupe has kicked really well and the punter pushing Hedley is doing well I've heard.

People are going to regret passing on him.
Even if he makes it in the nfl as a gunslinger type backup who can come in and win a game.

Can we pull a Seahawks when they paid Matt Flynn and still went with Russell Wilson.
Just kidding, sort of, maybe not really.

That video is Carr. Stiff, timing is off, weird throwing motion with little zip on the ball.

No. We are going to have a Bledsoe Brady situation where Carr goes out right before the playoffs and Ratler brings us a Super Bowl and a dynasty.

Was there supposed to be zip on that ball? I guess with the late throw out of the break, he should have put more on it to give Olave a better chance to stay in bounds, but if he doesn't do that last hop waiting for Olave to break, and trusts that he will break out based on Olave's feet, the touch probably would have been perfect.

Unless you want a pick 6. As you mentioned timing is just as important. I'm not trying to overanalyze a simple drill but I was surprised in the video how stiff, awkward Rattler looked in the video and also how the ball sagged too much at the end. Not surprised that when you zoom in its not Rattler at all, its Carr

Then what's the point of a message board during the TC?

its all cute from you. this is not a hate on rattler at all, its just a simple matter of fact. when rattler has 170+ starts, come back and talk more shite. Until then, how about show Carr a bit more nfl competent starting respect.

Bobby H along with others have said Carr looks better than he did in camp last year. I'll tell him High Life disagrees.
