As someone born in 1996, I am undoubtedly a Millennial, part of the last generation that remembers Web 1.0 and when Cartoon Network's logo actually spelled out its full name. We didn't grow up with savestates. Die deep in the Pit of 100 Trials? Go all the way back to the beginning. Also, most games made you turn off the console after reaching The End. Paper Mario on the N64 comes to mind.

Remember when Pokémon ruled the world? Great times. Whether you were a Turtlemania Millennial or a Pokémania Millennial, take solace in that you grew up alongside a childhood cultural phenomenon that just can't be replicated in this day and age.

Everything changed in the mid-2000s or so. Things haven't felt quite as pure since.

Millennials are the best generation too. The perfect blend of old school and the modern age, plus being a lot more educated than our Gen X’ers and Boomers.

Millennials are people who were “coming of age” around 2000

So teenagers/early 20s in 2000

Late 80s millennial checking in, everybody born after 1994 might as well be tide pod-eating Gen Z’ers.

Your generation gave us weak men with full grown beards wearing backwards hats and sunglasses in the middle of the day. Way to take the species back a bit, dipshits.

By savestates, I mean instantaneously being able to go back to any time in the game, not just your last save point. The Pit of 100 Trials is a location in Paper Mario: TTYD where you have to make it through 100 floors of fights without saving. The Switch remake lets you try a battle again if you die.

I have bad news, by some metrics '96 is considered Gen Z no cap

I think this description is befitting of that in between age gap, the really old millenial/young gen-X. I was born in 85 so am officially a millenial but identify far more with genx. As for the point you metnioned abotu the perfect blend of old school and new school, folks my age:

-were entering older childhood when nintendo systems came out. We graduated from SNES up to 64 up to PS/Xbox as we aged
-had walkmans followed by CD players followed by mp3s
-had VHS followed by DVDs folowed by streams
-Had massive CRT TVs followed by flat screens followed by what we have now
-Porbably didn't have a computer in the house until teenage years
-started childhood with *gasp* no internet. Most folks my age got internet in the late 90s so right around the time they were hitting their teens.
-Most likely didn't get a cell phone until they started driving, and even then it was a brick. Likely didn't get a smart phone until ~college

I'm sure every generation on the planet has similar examples unique to them. But I think folks my age truly embody that aspect of starting childhood with "old school" stuff that seems archaic, then grew up in teen/adolescent years with rapidly innovative tech and adapted to all the modern stuff we have now.

Not sure what the technical cutoff is

As someone born in 87, I do feel consistency with those born in 1980. Honestly even those born in 1975 ish or so feels pretty much the same

People born in 1996 feels like a world apart when we talk about childhood

Cartoon Network? Gay.
Pokémon? Japanese.
Nothing about being outside? Fail.
Video game lingo? Just no.

I’d say you are the first low T generation. Sorry, but it’s time you face it.

81-96 for Millennials so yes he is.

There is a large gap in Millennials born in the 80s and those born in the 90s.
