I mean, I’m a golf junky. I watch it all. I’m just wondering how it lands with the average golf fan. On the radar? Equal to a major? Regular tour event? The field is more like a middle level pga event only smaller. I think the course will be nice though. Thoughts?

Good website for the strength of the field.

I’m pretty excited about it.

Will be great this year with actual crowds.

Wow. Wouldn’t have thought it was so strong just by looking at the names. I guess all of the very top players playing and the short field plays into it a lot.

I’ve thought about this in depth.

In golf, you want to win a major! “This putt to win the masters” how many of us did this as a kid? Major wins are everything. Look at Tiger out there still trying even though it’s obvious it’s over.

However, an Olympic gold medal!!!!! The Olympics go back to Greece. They predate Rome!

To win the Olympics is incredible. Look at other sports which have world championships worth tons of money. They still love winning the Olympics.

I will be surprised if it’s anyone other than Scottie, Xander, Rahm, or Rory.

I do think Olympic gold gets you into all 4 majors next year

It’s a solid field.

Winning a gold medal is perhaps just below The Players Championship.

It’s not quite a major, but it’s major adjacent.

If I won the Olympics I would treat it with just as much reverence as a major.

A gold medal sitting on the mantle is pretty incredible.

Definitely should’ve gone to LIV with Rahm instead of Hatton. He missed his window

Most guys get 4 chances a year to win a major. You only get 1 chance every 4 years to win an Olympic medal & you’re not guaranteed to go again

THIS! I think that being only in play every four years makes it special and unique. More international field of players. Names you don't see often that have really good game.
Wonder if they will play Riviera in LA '28?

They announced it the other day and it is, indeed, Riviera in 2028.

I'd have it above The Players for sure.
