Looking at our future schedules. And next year we lead of AT freaking Clemson week 1, and the following year Clemson comes to BR. Say what you want about Dabo but this won’t be yet another dog fight right out of the gate. Why do we continue to do this to ourselves? It has royally screwed us the last two seasons from being in the playoffs. Most every other team in the nation gets a cup cake to start. If it’s for the money let’s play at least a mid level team. I just can’t stomach having two more seasons being one win away from a playoff because we have to play these idiotic openers.

Winning the opener last season wasn’t getting us in the playoffs.

If you're scared, go to church.

No, BK screwed his playoff chances with that first defensive staff and poor Week 1 preparation.

You do know these games are scheduled many years in advance, right? ... so Let's not start whining about schedules like soft arse Lincoln Riley has been doing all off-season.

So you're thinking it'll be more of a ... cat fight?

On the flip side, had LSU been ready for those opening games in the past it would have been absolutely huge for playoff chances. They can't back away and be scared of good teams and competition.

Good opening non conference games will not hurt your playoff chance

I agree 100 percent! BK doesn’t have his teams ready week 1 for whatever reason. This is the main reason I want to have a cup cake week 1

Everyone does it. Texas A&M plays Notre Dame this year. Georgia plays Clemson this year. Bama plays FSU next year. Ohio State plays Texas in 25 and 26. Michigan plays Texas and Oklahoma twice each over the next 4 years.

Ya gotta beat big boys to make any sort of splash. Ya can't beat 'em if ya don't play 'em. These initial games are a blessing IF YOU WIN!

I, for one of many, love a tough early schedule. Even game one is fine with me. Saban piled up charminultra level opponents year after year to aid his chances at the playoffs. We can be pussies or play the really good teams. And yes, I feel sorry for the Bama fans who have to witness myriad BS opponents. Well, not that sorry, as they have chosen their path in life lol.

Now, with 12 teams getting in, it won't be so difficult. My take...

I've said it the past couple of years, LSU is hurting itself with the way they are scheduling

With a SEC schedule there is no need to play both USC and UCLA this year
You don't have to

IMO if you cant manage to beat a USC / FSU / UCLA type team in Game 1 then all that making the CFP will get you is an arse whipping by the #5 Seed Team.

I, for one, am happy we are playing at Clemson. It means we can get to the game here in SC!

Also, I hope that the expanded playoff will encourage more teams to schedule this way.

We booked that game like 5 years ago.

If you’re scared, stay home.

Actually the cupcakes should be banned from all Power 5 schedules. Why should we risk injury to our players to basically give ULL, Grambling, Tulane, etc. a donation?
