For a couple of years all I heard about was how great this kid was from all the veteran Louisiana high school gurus.he is clearly a great talent and he has the best coach in America in my opinion but he has remained a disappointment so far based on his potential from these experts. Why? Thoughts.

He has only been on campus one year. Cut him some slack. Most guys don’t become stars as true freshmen (especially when 2 1st round draft picks are in front of you).

He's only been here for one season and LSU just had 2 guys go in the 1st Round at his position. Not sure why anybody would call him a disappointment. His time is coming.

Please never have children. If they aren’t millionaires by 21 you might disown them, lol. Shelton was a true freshman last year.

Wasn’t physically ready for the SEC like most incoming freshman. Also who was he going to take snaps from last year? Had a ton of experience in front of him including 2 1st rd draft picks.

He's the leading WR in my NCAA 25 Dynasty...if that is any indication, expect big things this year.

calling a guy who redshirted his first year on campus a disappointment is more than a reach, especially as others have said with what he was playing behind.

Michael Clayton wasn’t a freshman on an offense like we had last year. He would have RS’d on that team.

OBJ, Jarvis, Jamar, Justin… I would have to think, all of them would have RS’d last year.

No clue on Sampson, as haven’t seen him in my life but his measurable and evaluations are there. We’re pretty stacked with vets again this year, but hope he can break thru as you would expect his RS Soph year for him to be one of “the guys”.

The guy is a redshirt freshman and played behind Malik Naboers, BTJ, Kyron Lacey, Aaron Anderson, Chris Hilton Jr., and Gregory Clayton Jr. for a coach who has always favored more experienced players and likes to redshirt younger players. But you find his performance disappointing? How do you people function?

Don’t be surprised to see him take a big step this year. Joe Sloan made a point during his presser in the spring to talk about him and how hard he’s working.

He was a true freshman playing behind two 1st round picks and an experienced third WR in Lacy

BTJ had massive, massive expectations from high school coaches/evaluators coming out of HS and didn’t break out until his junior year.

He could very well be the 6th option in the WR room behind Lacy, Hilton, Daniels, Anderson and Thomas.

The thing he has going for him is his size:

Anderson
Zavion
Hilton

Small

This is how WRU is/was built. I'm 6' 3" and came out of high school around 165 pounds. It takes a year or two to gain the right kind of weight when your metabolism is firing on all cylinders. Now, I smell good food and gain a couple lol

Can you tell us which of the other LSU freshmen outperformed him last year?

Because every other true freshman WR on the roster also redshirted and none of them caught a pass.

People are a special kind of dumb if they hold the two drops in mop up duty against Grambling against Sampson.

You're right but the concern for Sampson is somewhere in the middle.

Definitely too early to consider him any sort of bust, but his improvement has been a little concerning up to this point.

Did not step up in the few opportunities he was given last year, dropping a couple touchdowns. Even in the spring game he never had flashes of showing the potential is there.

Then, makes zero headway on the depth chart this offseason and there's not even real buzz about how he's performed in practice.

We'll know if he's on his way to being the next great one or just another guy by the end of this season.

You've been a member here as long as Sampson has been on the team and I think we can all agree that you've been a disappointment so far.
