Ride the Lightning is the second studio album by the American heavy metal band Metallica, released on July 27, 1984, by the independent record label Megaforce Records. The album was recorded in three weeks with producer Flemming Rasmussen at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. The artwork, based on a concept by the band, depicts an electric chair being struck by lightning flowing from the band logo. The title was taken from a passage in Stephen King's novel The Stand, in which a character uses the phrase to refer to execution by electric chair.

Best Metallica album, meet me at Sonic if you disagree.

Truth. Most would say MoP, but it’s just a bit too polished and perfect. RTL is perfectly raw.

Before their punk asses turned pop with the black album and later started suing their own fans.

Fade to black is probably my favorite Metallica song of all time.

I like RTL and MOP equally and nothing they've made since has been nearly as good.

Geauxing to see them in Mexico City in September. Most interested in the crowd.

Anyone see them live before? I'd like to check that box off before I croak. Just wondering how they are live

3 times in the 90s, then in 2004. I think you missed their peak by a bit (so did I).

Isn't this considered the speed metal album? A more refined and technical kill em all.

I'll be seeing their old asses in a couple of weeks. Better late than never.

AC/DC is doing a tour in Europe right now. They played my city a few weeks ago. I wonder what their shows are like these days.

Saw them in St Louis in November. Enjoyed the show from a Suite. They rocked.

I’ve seen them twice. Once with The Cult on the “And Justice For All…” tour, then at a festival. They were awesome both times, but that was a long time ago.

I think I’d have to agree, but there’s so many great songs to choose from until after And Justice for All. After that album it seems like they just ran out of ideas.
Saw them many, many years ago in Shreveport of all places. Best concert I’ve ever seen.
