You tube-what’s going on with shipping
KHOU
The Chinese owned and Chinese crewed Yangze 7 ran over the tugboat Miss Peggy in the Houston ship channel killing 1, while 4 were rescued.
This coming two days after the Yangze 7’s sister ship, the Yangze 6 ran aground in Wilmington, NC.

I assume this is going to lead to local captains being required on all ships in all US waterways like they currently are doing in many places.

I don't know much about boats and tugs, but I'd keep a close eye on Yangze 5 and 8.

If the crew isn’t able to understand English, or be competent in their jobs, they can’t follow the pilot’s orders.

We don’t need Chinese ships in our waters. We don’t need them to make shite for us. We should be able to make anything they do.

They can reverse engineer everything except their ships.

I can’t imagine that a local pilot wasn’t in control.

I'm pretty sure this is already the deal in Charleston and Savannah, though I could be wrong. But I'm pretty sure.

Whatever… it shouldn’t matter.. more people having jobs means more money to spend…

Its not the Chinese. Ship Pilot was in charge of that one, and just rammed Miss Peggy in the arse. Sad.

Damn, as much as I hate the nepotism within this group, are they letting in DEI hires or something?

Waiting for the day this happens to a Galveston ferry boat

I agree wholeheartedly but American shipping companies have been chomping the bit for a long time to get rid of American crews. The minute the jones act is revoked there will never be another US sailor on ships.
