Family and I are going to a few games in the next few weeks. We will be staying in the downtown area. Any advice on things to see? Places to avoid? Do we need to get a rental car? TIA.

Grants farm Clydesdale tour is a must.

“Grants farm area” consists of 3 places: grants farm which is like a zoo, a Clydesdale farm tour, and Grant’s old house. They Clydesdale farm is what you have to do. The others are ok if you have time but not necessary. Grants house is kind of like seeing an old plantation. Not much to see but kind of cool if you have time. It’s a national park so if you’re into seeing national park places, you can check it off the list. The arch is as well.

Arch and arch museum
Zoo
City museum
Play at the Muny
Cardinals game
Dinner in the hill neighborhood
Union station and aquarium
Budweiser brewery tour

Further out, Lone elk park is ok, nothing great. Mermeac caverns has activities.

You can Uber unless you want to travel out to the further areas. Grants farm may be the only place that would be further than 10 minutes from downtown.

The Basilica is amazing. Go to the Arch before the Basilica. The Arch will be underwhelming if you go after the Basilica. The botanical garden is very beautiful.

Crown Candy Kitchen
Get the BLT and a shake. Go in the daylight hours, if you get my drift.

Buy tickets for movie of construction of the Arch. It’s very interesting. Boat ride is ok. Talked about different bridges crossing the river. awesome books in gift shop. Wish the courthouse was open & not under renovations.

The Basilica has more mosaics under roof than pretty much anywhere in the world. It is worth a visit and tour.

Art museum is free and very nice.

Eat some Italian on the hill.

My wife and I enjoy Sameem Afghan Restaurant.

Enjoy frozen custard at Ted Drewes.

I would think a car is good, but not necessary. We ate at Charlie Gitto’s, highly recommend. And if you like beer, Side Project is one of the best breweries in the country. They have 3 locations, all near each other with different vibes.

The arch was ok, but the zoo is free and really impressive.

Tyson Endangered Wolf Center

Route 66 State Park

Purina Farms

There are so many things to do; it’s a great place to vacation with kids. I loved growing up there.

Just got back from St Louis. Basilica and Arch were great. City Museum if your kids are younger. Pappys had some good BBQ.

Also stayed at Hilton at the Ballpark. Right next to the stadium with views into the stadium, walking distance to the arch.
