I'm afraid you are right and it is costing lots of people in the manufacturing industry in East tennessee jobs right now. The company I work for has laid around 220 people off since April and no signs of it not happening again in the next several weeks. We provide the oak flooring for dry van trailers and own about 45% of the industry worldwide if that tells you anything.

The Dow Jones is UP over 1,000 points since June 30. The S&P 500 is UP 55 points since then.

But yeah, the market is going down, down down...

Thanks. That reminds me that I have to review the stop loss orders on my long-term holdings. I don't want to get caught sleeping through the correction.

Be honest: how long have you been sitting on the sidelines? How much of a "correction" do we need to see before you would be "right"?

Man I just keep buying but I would throw a little more at it if the market was way down.

Late Sept-Early Nov. Average mid Oct for dips over the last 5 years. I'm gonna roll my Roth into something around then.

When is the market going down? Next week, next month, next year? These threads usually are great to fade but we are going into a seasonal weak period. I could see some chop in indices for a few/several weeks. Maybe an uptick for the smalls over that period? Hey, no one knows

If it does it does. What's your goal/end game? If it's for the long term then I welcome a dip or correction. If you're trading then it sucks or need to pull out money. I don't touch anything till retirement so a few points drawdown works for me
