When did you first realize our country had gone off track?

I casually followed the Obama terms but was officially red-pilled in 2020 secondary to the summer of love, covid, and, of course, the election shenanigans. I know many of you have followed politics much longer, and I appreciate and respect many of you guys' opinions.
So, something I often ponder is when things in this country changed for the worse, for example, DEI, the trans movement, libs becoming better known for pedophilia, and everything being racist and bigoted. When did you notice that a majority of the left are mental patients?
A friend who has long followed politics said it was in the 90s during the Clinton era; some believe it was post-9/11, while others say Obama was the main cause of what we are currently experiencing. It's obvious Trump broke the psyche of many progressives, but were they this hateful before 2016?

When Ron Paul woke me up in 2007.
I think a strong case can be made for the Bush Jr tenure and 9/11, Patriot Act, Iraq invasion though.

Ferguson
ETA: To clarify, that's the first time it was apparent the populace had changed and not just the corrupt talking heads/pols. There was a derangement in Ferguson that hadn't been seen here before and once that reveals itself, it's impossible to stop

This country gone off track when gay marriage became legal has been a slippery slope since then.

JFK assassination and The New Deal. I wasn’t alive, but you can definitely see decline after both.

The Clarence Thomas hearings reinforced what I thought. But I’d say as a teen when I witnessed how hysterical the media became with Reagan in his first term. Thats when I knew they would embrace a lie for an ideological reason, which I really couldn’t wrap my head around.

I’m only 34, but for me it was when we bombed Libya the first time in Obama’s presidency.

I thought the far left were very few and not influential enough to do anything. Then I watched Bret Weinstein's documentary on what happened to him at Evergreen college. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears that a college would allow those things to happen. This was around 2017 when I saw it.

When Obama was elected. We were not far removed from 9/11 and some how a guy with a Muslim name gets elected president? I would imagine they stole the election then and the 2nd time he was elected, but were caught in 2020. The bigger problem is that the judges and media are bought and paid for, for the most part.

When they took prayer out of school.

The ruin of the Boy Scouts, and when Congress rammed through a socialized health care bill that a majority of people didn’t want, and that nobody in Congress read.
Regarding the Scouts, I’ve watched friends my age who were Eagle Scouts and had still participated as adults, wash their hands of the organization completely.
The United Methodist Church is another more recent example.

It first came to my attention when Clinton played with his cigar in the Oval Office, lied under oath, and a lot of people just shrugged their shoulders. I knew then that the left was willing to excuse any behavior to keep it's power.
It has been downhill since then.
